Default My menu...1800 calories?!

I'm in extended induction...was wondering if anyone could take a look at my menu for today...I made my log at Fitday public:

http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJournals.html?Owner=jcapulet

Edit: Beverages today: 1 cup of black coffee (regular) and water, ~65 oz.

I added what I plan to have for dinner as well. It says...1800 calories! Isn't that too much?

Thanks in advance,
Lisa

I can only see 2 cups of veggies there, Lisa, so you are short one cup.

If you need to eat all you have listed to fill your hunger, then it should be fine.
You will find you have some more hungry days, and some less hungry ones, so eat enough and then stop and put the leftover food away rather than finishing the plate just because you planned to eat it.

I don't know if that's too much. Are you eating until you're satisfied? If you are in extended induction, then you still need to follow the rules of induction. For example, I don't see three cups of veggies. Sour cream is a special category food and you're allowed up to one ounce per day. I have no idea how much half a cup is. Also, you shouldn't be using 'light' stuff like the sour cream. It should be full fat. I'd also look at the ingredients in the sausage and omellet stuff and make sure all the ingredients are induction friendly.

Oops...I'll add green beans to my dinner to correct it. Thanks for catching that

I'll look for the full fat sour cream next time...eek I missed the part about the sour cream limit, I better go take a look in the book again . I would guess 1/2 cup is 2 to 3 ounces, but that's a guess.

I might cut out the sausages all together, and see if I'm satisfied with just the omelette (if not, I'll add them back in). The omelette has 5 grams of carbs.

I'm thinking about trying the mock danish for breakfast, and seeing if that keeps me full in the morning.

Thanks for the help!

Just remember, it's not just about the carb counts of foods, it's about the igredients. If there is something in there not on the list for induction, don't eat it! Especially sugars and starches.

1/2 cup is 4 ounces

as everybody as said if you need to eat that much to satisfy your hunger when you are eating then you didn't have too much. because the Atkins food plan is different from the standard USDA one you will be burning about 25% more of the total you take in just to convert the foods to fuel. this is the metabolic advantage Dr Atkins talks about in DANDR.

you also didn't show how you werer spreadingout your foods but we are supposed to have some of our veggie carbs some protein and some fat at every meal so we don't get a huge amount of carbs at one time.

happy low carbing

Thanks Isabeau and 4mysize. I eat breakfast at 7:30 or 8 am/ lunch at 12 pm / dinner at 7 (when I get home).

I've been including most of my veggies during lunch...never thought about spreading them out to avoid too many carbs at once-sounds like a good idea! I'll try to split them between lunch and dinner now

I've read the book, but I don't quite understand the part about the metabolishm of fats...if we eat excess fats, what happens to the excess? For example, with proteins, any excess get's flushed out of the body, right? Will fats turn into fat if we eat more than we burn?

actually excess protein it turned to sugar not flushed eating excess anything will cause that to be burned for fuel before body storage fats which is why we tell everybody to listen to their hunger and if they ain't hungry don't eat just have the 6hr snacks of some protein/fat with a bit of veggie. happy low carbing
