Default Boring Person's Menu that works

I'd be very interested in getting feedback on my menu. It's a little non-conventional compared to the other ones I see on here. Maybe i'm just filling the Atkins stereotype.

I pretty much eat the same thing every day. I have been on Atkins for 5 weeks. Lost 25 pounds.

Breakfast -
Scrambled Eggs (3 or 4) (sometimes just the eggs, sometimes with 3 strips of bacon, sometimes with meunster or american cheest that has no sugar and 1 carb)

Lunch -
Sometimes I skip it (these are usually days when I don't drop any weight). When I do have it, it is usually a can of tuna with mayo. Sometimes i'll have salad.

Dinner -

.8LBS of steak (I like sirloin steak tips).
Sometimes a few cups of lettuce with Marie's ceaser dressing

Why is my menu so boring? I'm afraid of sugar. Bagged lettuce in the market has sugar. Ceaser salads in restaurants have sugar. Hidden seasoning or sauces on steaks have sugar. I find it much easier to eat simply than worry about the presence of sugar.

Am I insane about this sugar thing? Atkins says 0 sugar, so I stick to that religiously.

You need to check that the 'sugar' you are worrying baout is 'added sugar' and is listed in the ingredients on a label. You might be noticing the sugar info on the nutrition label - which will also be listing the 'natural sugar' that is in lettuce and all other veggies, but which is just an inherent part of any vegetables.
So unless there is an ingredient called sugar, corn syrup or one of sugar's othere aliases then the natural sugar in lettuce or tomatoes etc is fine - just account for the carbs.

A big no-no!!
We need to spread our food across the day and include some of our carbs along with fat and protein at all meals too. So add some mushrooms or peppers etc to your breakfast too.
Remember the '6-hour rule' which states
Quote:
1. Eat either three regular-size meals a day or four or five smaller meals. Do not skip meals or go more than six waking hours without eating.
so if you dont have time or feel hungry for a 'proper' meal make sure you have a fat/protein/carbs snack to help keep your blood sugar stable

BTW Boring is fine unless you find a boring menu tempts you to eat offplan!

You would be better off nutritionally however by adding more variety as different veggies and meats contain different vitamins and minerals and would give you a more balanced intake of these.

I'm with Elizellen on this one! My menu is typically very boring as well, but as you have seen it is not good to skip meals.

I have never had a problem with caesar salads in restaurants or on the go. Make sure to get your veggies in, those are important! If you want to take a look at my Fitday journal, you'll see you're not alone....I eat the same breakfast every morning (rotate between sausage omelets and eggs w/cheese) and I love it!

I also have the same problem with eating lunch sometimes but on those days I just grab for a few 1 oz. cubes of colby jack cheese Yummm... It's fast and easy.
