Default Here goes......Don't be hard....But do be!! Ha-Ha!!

Good Day Friends,

I have been very successful so far with this Atkins life style. I think I'm doing everything right, but wanted a second set of eyes. Two things before you look at my menu....Only since June 1 have I started counting and subtracting actual dietary fiber/net carbs. I'm still way under (some days ) where I have set my CCL. Secondly, I haven't been walking since May, I still have had, many many gigs, where I am getting a nice workout! At least 2 -3 times a week. It's so hard to make myself get up at 6:00 am to walk or ride the bike when I've played out the night before. My problem, must work it out...

Okay....here goes nothing....please review and give me your opinion of how I'm doing. Suggestions, complaints, problems, anything at all. Oh yes....you will see on the weekends I do have cup of coffee. I sit out on the deck with my wife and drink a cup of coffee and talk about life!! It's not caused any cravings or stalls....I think I'm safe with that. It is not in my fitday, but I loyally drink 3 74oz containers of water every day. Religiously. I also keep a case of 20oz'rs in my car at all times too.

Hmmm...oh yeah, every day you will see I allow myself (1) Dite Rite with splenda. I use it as a dessert so to speak. I count 1 carb, and 1 sweetened item each day, you will also see a Diet Coke with splenda, same thing, I count 1 carb, and 1 sweetened item. It is either or, never in the same day....as I said, I use them like a dessert. I never have more than 1 each day. It's my treat so to speak. It does not appear to stall me. I have been losing on an average of 3-4 pounds a week since starting. I have not stalled once. I think the music playing and the water combined are helping. Especially now that we're moving into the hot weather. I play outside each week!

Please review...thanks!! Oh yes, I use the journal to note Net carbs since Fitday doesn't subtract them. Is that how most of you do it? I know, I know, since I've started this the day after easter, I have noticed several days that I know I have over eaten. But I have never passed my CCL on those days! Bonus...I think....I have really been trying to get my fat intake down and a more balance of levels.....harder time with that one right now, but it seems to be working with the addition of so many yummy vegetables. I want to get off the nut rung and start the berries...sweeeet!

Okay...finally I've rambled on enough. Thank you!!!

Scooter, I don't see anything wrong with what you are eating. There is one day that may have been a mistake...but maybe not....either way it's not a big deal.

But on June 13th you have down
Ground beef, lean, cooked ( 16 oz, raw (yield after cooking) ) 94964086

This means that you ate one lb of cooked hamburger. Ok, fine, if you really ate that much...if you were hungry, you should eat is what I say. But, was it one pound BEFORE or AFTER you cooked it?? That would make a difference on your total calories that day. Other than that...I think your menus look fine. I'm glad to see you are getting your veggies in. Your carbs are fine too...remember you are in OWL, you are supposed to be slowly upping those carbs.

Go ahead and dive right on into berries if you are ready!

Hi Joy,

Yeah...that was kind of a bad day. It was 2 frozen 8oz hamburger patties.
Cooked them on the grill that day. I knew I should have ate one, and while I eating the second one, I shared it with my dogs! Who, by the way, happen to love the Atkins diet! They eat better too!

Thank you. I appreciate your thoughts. You know, I find that to be the only thing about fitday I am unsure of. I probably should spend more time looking for the appropriate meat and poultry and fish sometimes.

Thanks again.

Okay, so you've got down there the full 16 oz uncooked meat...which is correct and fine. I notice you have some days you eat more, and some you eat less. That's what 2big and megs tell you to do...if you are hungry, EAT, if you aren't DON'T. You are NOT bingeing...and you are obviously doing things right because you are still losing at a good rate. Even on that one day it looks like you burned more calories than you ate anyway....and that can't hurt either.

I had raspberries a few nights this week with some real whipped cream. Boy are they good! Keep moving through the rungs, I love the variety!

One thing I notiiced is that alot of your carbs are coming from non-veggies. You should probably add more veggies, and not just salad type ones (i.e. not just lettuce tomatos cucumbers).

Most of your carbs should still be coming from veggies.

Avocados, spinach, cauliflower, asparagus, brussel sprouts, cabbage, and many many more to choose from.

This is an issue I struggle with as well, as I'm not a big veggie person, so I try to smuggle them in as snacks or on a salad or mixed in with foods.

You can get Fitday to help you determine net carbs. Go to the section for Nutrition goals and add "Dietary Fiber" to your list of nutritional goals and it will then show you the dietary fiber in your caloriies eaten chart.

yep only you know if you are feeding your hunger or not when you eat. if you are great if not CUT IT OUT!!

I'm not sure why you need to get your fat down. when we go to OWL the percent drops cause we have the same amount of fat as we did in induction but we are increasing our carbs with that fat. so you add a few more veggies to the salad but use the same amount of dressing. toss someveggies, or beans in the pot and now a cup of that chili has slightly less fat and slightly more carbs then it did in induction. our perent of fat in the diet goes down slightly from 65 to 60 as we progress through OWL and we may because we are satisfied sooner in the meal not lick the dressing out of the bowl and eat a bit less j/k but that is how it works. we will be getting our hunger satisfied slightly sooner in the food consuption so we will not eat the whole pound of meat and it is far better to waste it then waist it so feed it to your doggies instead of you when you realize hey i don't need all this cause I'm not hungry any more. or just save it for later if and when you do get hungry.

Happy OWLing.

About those gigs are you on your feet playing an instrument and "dancing" the night away as you do? if so you are getting exercise as part of your job and that is great free exercise still counts as exercise.

Thank you both....actually, I have been thinking that I really need to start adding more veggies..although....NO BRUSSEL SPROUTS...EEWWW...my mom used to make me eat those....awful....haha.

More veggies it is then. Cool. Oh yes.....by the way, I am on my feet standing, singing, moving when I play.....made myself get up this morning though and still walked 2.5 miles. It was actually nice.
Thank you again!
