Default Mayonnaise

Hi Everyone

Totally confused..... I can't find a value in the Atkins book regarding carbs for Mayo... but, I am sure I read 1g per tablespoon.

My husband googled another site, and it said 4g per 100g.

Can anyone tell me.. please. should we be counting mayo, and if so how many carbs is it?

Thanks.

Beverley

Default Re: Mayonnaise

Your mayo shouldn't have carbs in it.

Are you using Miracle Whip?? If so- throw it out.

Most of us either make our own or use Helmans. It does have a titch of sugar in it, but it's negligible

The label should tell you how much carbs it have. Also read to see if sugar has been added.

We're using Hellmans full fat version (I know to avoid the light).

The label does say that the carb content is negligible, just another site says count it.

It's all kind of confusing, and even the book contradicts itself in other parts. The book definately conflicts with nutritional info when it comes to vegetables

Will just keep plodding on going with nutritional labels.

Thanks.

Default Re: Mayonnaise

I am lately completely totally addicted to putting mayonnaise on everything...
I put a lot of mayo on everything lately.
zero carb mayo of course....
I know atkins is a high fat diet...not a high protein diet...
But lately I been using a lot of mayo...
I feel guilty about it..cause its so good..
I put it on lettuce, broccolli, and cabbage....
my favorite dressing right now...is mayo, water, packet of splenda,

Default Re: Mayonnaise

Hi Beverley,

I use the Tesco.com website as it has the nutritional value for most foods it sells. Here are the details for the one I use.

Hellmans Real Mayonnaise in the Squeezy Bottle 350ml

15ml (level tablespoon) serving

Calories = 100
Protein = 0.2g
Carbs = 0.2g (of which surgars 0.2g)
Fat = 11.0g
