| hi Jenna -- do you use FitDay? You can find the cab totals there -- just make sure you deduct the net carbs so you are eating the proper amount of foods. Good for you going to the store. If you can't find the DANDR book locally you can get one pretty cheaply online at Amazon...mine was brand new and cost less than 10.00 with shipping and handling. Just because they say it's "slightly used" doesn't mean it isn't new....go figure! www.fitday.com

| Fitday is a really good suggestion. I second that. I thought your menu was good there jenna. The only minor thing to think about is that you eat only one cup of veggies from the list Atkins called "other vegetables" and two cups from the list he calls "salad vegetables." Not a biggie. Here is two stickies in the FAQ forum about what you are allowed to eat. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?) 1/4 cup tomatoes 1/4 cup mushrooms (which I now know I can have at least 1 cup of along with 1 cup of lettuce) 2 cups spinach (the same I had last night, which should only be 1 cup) 1 sliced hard boiled egg 1/4 cup feta cheese 2 tbsp olive oil/vinegar dressing :/ Will that mess me up too bad? For breakfast, I had: 2 Hard Boiled eggs (gosh, I love eggs!) 3 strips of bacon 12 oz. coffee (yes...caffeinated, but I have a thread on that, and I think I'm okay) 2 packets of Splenda 2 Tsp non-dairy creamer Then, I worked out for 20 mins doing cardio this morning, and have already drank 38 oz. of water. (Medications are still a duiretic & birth control.) I'll just make adjustments to the veggies and try my best to get that book today! LOL. (It's tough to find the time. I was surprised Wal-Mart didn't have it while I was out shopping the other day.)

| No, it won't screw you up. Just keep on going. That's the nice thing about this forum - without it you could be making these mistakes forever! At least here you learn so that you can continue to improve. Glad you are eating your veggies - they are really good for you. Consider taking a supplement and extra fibre if you need it.

| If you bought whole flax seeds, grind them up - the body doesn't do a good job of getting thru those husks. If it's flax meal (ground up flax seeds lol) its 1tbsp/day. Also drink LOTS of water

No worries on the water, I think I've got that down easy! This diet isn't so hard for me because 1: I hardly ever craved sweets. Ever. I crave salty foods if anything, but on this diet, it's easy to not worry about pizza and burgers. 2: I love water. XD Love it! Don't like many other drinks. My other weakness is wine, but I'm not having a problem avoiding that. It's not allowed during induction, so I'll just wait and not have any. I'd rather not have the empty calories. Also, thanks for the advice on the flax! EDIT: Also, I'm finding that around late afternoon (3-4pm), I start getting a headache and feeling hungry and tired again. I'm drinking PLENTY of water. So should I skip some carbs in an earlier meal and have a snack at that time instead? That's really the only time I feel like I need...something. |

| I also get hungry late afternoon. I usually have a piece of cheese. Its really important to have protein with your carbs - if you eat carby foods without protein, you digest them really fast - the protein helps slow it down so you don't get all that sugar hitting your system all at once. A piece of deli meat or leftover chicken/roast also make a nice snack. I plan for a snack during the day - so I save 1 carb for that.
