Default Can you experienced folks check out my foods...

I bought Dr. Atkins New Diet Revoultion and have read it cover to cover pretty much. I went to the local grocery store and stocked up. Here is what I have been eating so far:

- Plain Chicken Wings cooked in Canola Oil
- Pork Boston Butt steaks on the foreman grill
- eggs
- romaine lettuce
- cheddar cheese (full fat)
- Olive oil/vinegar dressing (just plain vinegar and oil)
- mushrooms
- bell peppers
- lots of water (over 80 ounces of day. closer to 100+)
- bacon (no sugar, couldn't find any without sodium nitrate. 2 strips a day)

I try to cook eggs in olive oil. I really pile it on. I also eat small meals (2-3 wings or 2 egg omelettes) every 3-4 fours hours. I am on day 3 so far. I have purchased the ketostix but haven't registered any change. So is this diet lineup okay? I am eating about 2-3 cups of veggies a day. I eat no more than 3 ounces of cheese a day. What do you guys think?

Your grocery list looks legal to me. Your veggie amounts sound good. You are getting your protein although you don't indicate how much. And good for you in understanding the limit on cheese.

As time goes on, add some of the other legal veggies to your menu so you don't get bored.

And best of all ... for reading the book!!!

Best wishes.

That looks pretty good! Do try to get your veggies in (all 3 cups ) 1/2 your daily carbs should come from veggies. Congrats on the water - it'll really help! Glad to see you are avoiding franken foods.

PS I personally think eggs taste better fried in butter Gotta love Dr. Atkins

Nothing wrong IMO, although you will soon want more variety. Are you also taking supplements?

Another tip: focus on your measurements, how you feel, and don't be concerned too much about the stix; sometimes they will not register a visible color change, even though you are in fact in ketosis. It means only your body is not wasting enough of the ketones being produced to be detectable, especially likely at the rate of dilution of your pee, which may be a lot if you are drinking as much water as you should!

I think it is looking good. You should probably be hitting ketosis right around today.
