Default Newbie- Just checking to see if i have got it right

Here is my menu from yesterday ...could you please review it and tell me if I've got it right ?

Breakfast
2 Eggs (small) boiled
I tablespoon mayonnaise
10 drops of tabasco
A cup of black coffee without sugar

Lunch
1 fillet of cod (125gms)
baked with
1 tbsps of olive oil,
1tbsp of lemon juice
1 clove of garlic
100 gms cauliflower (steamed)
1 oz of blue cheese (gorgonzola)
1 tbsp of heavy cream

Dinner

125 gms of cooked chicken
baked with
1 tbsps of olive oil,
1tbsp of lemon juice
1 clove of garlic
3 slices of bacon (pancetta)
2 cups of lettuce
1 oz cream cheese
1 tbsp heavy cream

I also drank about 2.5 lts of water (about 10 glasses). On fitday my net carbs (without substracting fiber) are 15.5

I am used to dieting on low fat diets and honestly am having a little difficulty changing my mindset. I dont know if the fat I have incorporated into this diet is too much ?? Please Help

Yes it takes a bit to get used to - especially if you're have been used to thinking low fat.

I thought it looked very good. The coffee is the only problem item. Atkins believed caffeine may be a problem for some people so you have to think about that one.

I also think that most of your carbs are probably not coming from veggies here (but from cheese/cream/spices/lemon. Is that right?

I think you did good on adding fat in even if you chose leaner proteins. How many percentage of fat did you have? We kind of aim for 65% of calories coming from fat, 30 from protein and 5 from carbs on induction.

heya, thanks for the reply. Its 61% fat and 34% protein..I have never been much of a coffee/tea person ever but this morning (I started yesterday) I wasn't able to wake up ...it was like my eyes were sealed shut.

I am not a big meat eater ...I am at a loss as to how to organize it so that my carbs come from veggies (I am fine with eating veggies) but any sizable portion of anything except lettuce (and even lettuce seems to have a lot of carbs in it...proportionally) . A portion of fish with 100 gms of veggies still leaves me hungry

I lost 2lbs this morning. Its probably too soon to tell if that was weight loss or water weight! ...Sorry I sound like i'm whining ...I'm just a little bewildered and fuzzy.

I added the cream and cheese because without them the diet seemed like a low-cal diet Can you give me some idea on how I could organize this ? If I have to eat meat I will but prefer poultry, eggs and fish. Also perhaps I should up my fish/chicken portions and my vegetable portion and cut out the seasonings?

Thanks again

Cream and cheese are probably not the best ways to add in fat. We try to limit dairy. And if you cut down on them you have more carb space for veggies. Oils are very good - I use olive oil quite a bit. Butter is great and so is mayo. I often eat my veggies with some kind of fat. Veggies sautted in oil (I love this) or veggies with a full fat dressing. Avocado (you can have half) is nice and have a lot of healthy fat in it.
I thought your protein portions were a bit small - don't hesitiate eating more. How many calories did you have according to fitday?

1000 calories ... How much are we supposed to average?...I'll try and eliminate the cream completely and eat maybe one or two ounces of cheese a day and add in more veggies (its the butter I didnt even think of ...ive been avoiding butter for years now )...Does that sound ok ? ...is it ok to take a calcium supplement?

That is too low. Use fitday to calculate how many calories your body use and eat towards that. You should not eat that few calories on this diet. I eat probably average of 1700 in summer - maybe 1900 in winter and I ate lots in induction and still lost weight.

Sure take supplements - calciums sounds good. Do take some multivamin and maybe also vitamin Bs. I also do fish oil.

thanks a million.. I'll try upping the calories as well ...one last question : if i eat 1700 calories almost (65%) 1105 calories are going to come from fat ..thats almost a 100gms of fat ... is that right ? its ok to eat that much fat ?
