| You ate too many veggies, but.... If you want to eat more veggies, all you have to do is move to OWL Rung 1. I mean, that's what you are basically doing now anyway, so whether you call it OWL Rung 1 or not you'll lose weight just the same. So save yourself the "guilt" of overeating veggies and accept that you have moved to OWL Rung 1. I'm sure eating a few more veggies won't stop your weight loss. We have a member who used to say that no one got fat by eating veggies. Read the OWL Chapter in DANDR (Ch. 14) and the stickies in the OWL Forum, to make sure you are doing everything correctly. You can stay in OWL Rung 1 for as long as you wish if you don't want to add back higher rung foods yet. In FitDay, instead of using the "Egg omelet or scrambled egg" entry, enter the eggs raw and whatever fat (oil, butter) or other ingredients you used. FitDay assumes you are using milk in cooking the eggs, which is why the carbs are so high (4 eggs have only about 2.4 carbs, not 4.2 as FitDay says). You should get over half of your net carbs from veggies. Try to eat a bit more protein. Our protein should be around 30% on Atkins. We need more protein because we use some of it in gluconeogenesis to make the glucose necessary to those cells that lack mitochondria.

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!" | Thank you so much for your help. I am anxiously awaiting my copy of DANDR - hopefully it will come tomorrow and then I will feel more in tune with what I need to be eating. There's a lot of information on the web - a lot of contradicting information at that so I'll be glad to have another resource (aside from this awesome bulletin board that is!). I did better today with the veggies and the protein. Thanks also for your recommendation to the FitDay website (via a posting to others) - I can see that it's a bit quirky as far as which food you pick (I see that choosing raw versus cooked in a lot of things holds truer values just as you noted with eggs) and of course I'm making sure to note any extras that I'm using to cook with. Again, thank you so super much! Your knowledge and patience is much appreciated! |
