| Okay, the goal is not to zero out your carbs, it is to eat three cups of fresh vegetables while keeping the carb count under 20g. 1 cup of onions has 12.2g of carbs, so most people use say 1/4th of a cup as a garnish or ingredient - in burgers, on salads, etc. 1 cup of pepper has something like 10g of net carbs. You are probably well within your carbs if you're just dicing that into your buger, and that's a good way to do those, but you are no way no how getting 3 cups of veg. The cups to grams thing is a real hassle if you're in Europe or eat in metric so I'm trying very hard to put together a speadsheet of Induction veggies with the weight in grams per cup already worked out, with carbs, but it will be a while. Battered fish seems like it would be a huge problem. 18 grams of carbs is way, way too many for Induction. It very likely has flour, which is not allowed at all. More than half your carbs must come from veggies, so you're getting a tiny amount of veggie carb in your burger and the vast intake of your carbs from batter. Alcohol is sadly not allowed. Diet coke is allowed, but there's an articial sweetener limit per day. Atkins bars are not allowed on Induction, no matter what the label says. Drop the battered fish, add three cups of allowed veg in total, and you'll do fine! If you need a crash course in Atkins, there's a link in my signature.

| Wow, so it seems like I totally screwed it up! Strangely I did it very similar once before and lost a stone. Anyway, I want to do it properly and my aim is 28 pounds in 2 months. I've just read your dummies article and it's very well written, now I understand exactly what I need to do. However, not sure what cups are, but I'll just not go too heavy on the veggies. I'm from UK, as you may have guessed. Thanks for your reply. |

| The cups thing is MADDENING. A cup is a measure of volume - how much space a food takes up. The rest of us measure weight. As a hack for the cup issue, you can do this: Buy a measuring standard Pyrex measuring cup. (They are like three quid in Tesco.) The 1/4 Litre mark on the side will represent, by volume, what a cup looks like.

| Good work on turning it around and trying to do it right. I am not too happy with cups either but year 250ml or 1/4 litre is about a cup. In addition to the dummies article, you can have a look here for rules Here are some threads in our FAQ that will help you. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html (What are the Rules of Induction?) | That is the kind of measuring cup, yes. But in the UK you will be hard pressed outside of possibly a speciality cooking shop to find one marked in cups, as that one is. Yours will more likely be marked in mililitres and pints. But yes, it will look like that, just with different markings
