Default Recipes needed for induction phase

:help :help :help :help :help :help :help :help :help :help :help :help :help :help

I am in my induction phase, day 3, and I seriously need some help with the menu side of the house. I am not very creative and eating just meat is already getting old. I would love something with some spice and flavor other than the bland taste of meat. All meals would be great, especially breakfast and lunch I usually eat at the job and all that we have there is pre cooked foods (hotpockets, pizzas) and sweets (candybars, danish, crackers, chips)

Any and all recipes are welcomed for Breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks!!

Please feel free to email them to me at

Rasean1@aol.com

Thank you

Tim

Hello Tim
You aren't meaning you are eating 'just' meat are you?
The list of foods for induction also includes fish/poultry/cheese/vegetables as well as meat!!
Here is a link to the complete list in case you don't have your DANDR handy for reference
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ic.php?t=68132

Having said that when you look at it you will see this
Quote:
Spices
All spices to taste, but make sure none contain added sugar.

Herbs
basil garlic rosemary cayenne pepper ginger sage cilantro oregano
tarragon dill pepper thyme

For salad dressing, use oil and vinegar (but not balsamic vinegar, which contains sugar) or lemon juice and herbs and spices. Prepared salad dressings without added sugar and no more than two carbs per tablespoon serving are also fine.
So there is no need to be eating 'bland' food at all - spice it up as much as you like but just make sure you account for the carbs in spices and herbs.
www.fitday.com will tell you how many carbs in a tablespoon or teaspoon of them.

As to recipes - there are many available here via the 'Recipes' link at the top of the page- browse through the categories for inspiration or search for an ingredient you want to cook.

Or scroll down the main ADBB index page to the food forum for whichever meal you want help with. You can use the suggestions there or ask for help in planning a particular meal using a particular ingredient.

I am definitely not eating just meat but I am being very cautious because I am not very educated on these types of things and labels can be deceiving. My fiance bought me some Atkins, Hood, Chocolate milk but I do not trust it. It states that it has 3g or carbs and 2g of sugar, I think that would be for phase two but I am unsure. What is and is not acceptable as far as sugar has me going crazy. So I have been chowing down on tuna and cheese and pretty much meat with a salad or two. I did have the hardees burger...I hope that is acceptable, a friend of mine said it was ok..but I doubt that now as well.... I really have not had any headaches or anything just cravings here and there for certain foods that I smell others around me eating.....

Thanks

I hope this goes well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have another question....How do you distinguish the induction phase recipes from the the other phases or are they all ok to use no matter what phase you are in?

It is extremely important for you to buy yourself a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR for short, version 2002) and read it through. You'll get all your answers there.
There's also a FAQ forum on the main page of this board that will help you, but there's really no substitute for the book. It will give you the 'why' behind Atkins, and the best way to educate yourself is to go to the source.

We want you to succeed, and we know you want to succeed, but in order to get the best results possible you need to do your homework and read the book. :yes

We are happy to answer questions, but it's pretty well laid out in the book, and that's where you should turn first when you have a question.

Another real good site for recipes is atkins.com not only for recipes but a lot of other information. (you'll still need the book) I was using that site for the first week and then realized I still needed more information and that's when I found this message board which I find is wonderful. lots of encouragement, praise and support.

anyway, the baked meatball recipe is what I usually make for my lunch with a tomato or some cucumber slices. (I'm not quite tired of it yet)

for more recipes go to google and type in

low carb recipes

I ended up finding oh so many that my meals are no longer so boring. :icondance

Thank you all for your replies.

I have ordered the book but I hope I will be able to make sense of it all.

I must be doing something right though I have lost 10 pounds in 5 days.

Exercising make a huge difference in the weight loss.

Again Thank you all
and if you have any suggestions for me please feel free ....I am open to all good advice.

Congratulations on your loss!!

As to knowing which recipes are OK for which phase on Atkins you need to always check the list of ingredients against the list of foods you are allowed to eat on that phase.

So for induction have a copy of the list of acceptable foods by you and look up all the ingredients to make sure.

Be careful with recipes that suggest you use one of the 'low carb baking mixes' as you will have to check out their list of ingredients - NO MATTER what phase of Atkins they say they are for.
Some manufacturers are a little casual about this and include things like soy flour which is not allowed till the legume rung of OWL in their 'induction' recipes so be careful about including these.
