| So, what's up with grad school? Who?What? When?Where? Why?How? Losing weight and keeping it off is a huge self-confidence booster, you're right! I quit drinking a couple of years ago and that was pretty simple: don't pick up a drink. I quit smoking 2 1/2 months ago and once again: don't pick up a cigarette. But eating???? You can't say: don't pick up food ever again. It's about making good choices and staying committed. Good luck to you , Nick and you're fortunate that you started realizing these things while you're so young!! Congrats on the weight loss, too. sounds like you're making good choices and decisions. One more thing, can I ask you a personal question about your goals???? Where did you come up with 168 for a six foot tall man? Just curious. I'm almost 5'11" and I'm constantly looking at people's height and goal weight trying to figure out where I'm comfortable. I weighed 186 last Tuesday when I started Induction and I know that I'm real comfortable about 170-175. When I get below that, I look like a board. Anyway, just askin'. |

| Hi Kellymch2006! Grad school... ah, yes... such stress getting in! But thankfully after the horrific GREs, lengthy applications, a little begging for funding, and months of waiting, I've been accepted to the University of Kansas for fall 2008 admission. They are very generous... they are giving me a research position to apply what I am interested in learning more about. Ultimately, I am going to school for Urban Planning, but my specialty will be in all things transportation planning. Should be interesting. It will definitely be a life change and I want it to coincide with me attaining my goal weight (or coming close to it). So, my goal weight... I used this website: Better Ideal Weight Body Calculations to come up with an average based on the information they provided me. I believe the MetLife ideal weight tables are flawed... at least with regard to people of our height. This website will give you a good idea of where you should be realistically. For me, 170 is my realistic weight, but I want to get down to 168 just so I can say I'm in my 160's. It has a nice ring to it! Good job on quitting the smoking and drinking. I imagine they are actually much harder vices to conquer. Are you ready to move onto OWL yet? Your profile says you're still in induction.

| Good Morning! This is my third day on induction and things are going well. This is about my 10th time starting Atkins. The kick in the butt came when I saw a photo of myself at the beach and my backside. Good Grief! Time to get serious. I am happy to be back with you guys with a renewed commitment to get fit and healthy and lose these darn pounds. Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!! |

| Urban Planning. How fun and interesting. My Masters of Education and Education Specialist are in Special Education from University of Florida. I'm a school teacher in Florida, that's why I have so much time right now to screw off on the computer. It's 95 outside with 98% humidity. I'm going nowhere near the outdoors. University of Kansas has a world renowned Special Education department. I'm sure their Urban Planning department is good. Congratulations on getting in and getting what you want. I'll check out that body weight website. Contrary to popular belief, You Can Be Too Thin.... Next Tuesday will be the end of my STA induction. I lost 45 pounds in about 4 1/2 months in October of 2004. I kept it off until April when I quit smoking and gave myself permission to eat everything in the house. That lasted for two months and I had to put an end to it. So, here I am. Last time around, I can't really say I did "Atkins." More like I did "Low Carb." This time I want to be more strict by the book. That's why I'm here on the board getting involved and getting information. |

| Well congrats on a lot! ![]() Congrats on becoming a teacher (though I'm not sure I could handle Florida's humidity myself!), congrats on the previous weightloss, and congrats on a clean induction so far! Yes, I agree that you can be too thin. My ideal weight is only theoretical. I haven't been below 200lbs since I was 12 (and briefly this past March). I have no clue what I'll look like! I guess I just need to play it by ear and see how I feel each passing day until I can look in the mirror and smile! When that happens, that's my final weight

| Well, for a guy 196 at six foot tall sounds pretty good. You're not smiling at that??? My husband is just over six foot tall and when I met him, he weighed 197 and he looked great! Now, he's at 225 and he still looks great!!!! Do you exercise? (man, I'm nosy today.) |
