| The less you have to lose, the slower it goes. It just seems to work that way. What could convince you to exercise? Just 20 minutes a day or even just most days would do you a world of good, mentally as well as in the trimming department. A walk? a swim? a turn on some old rock music and bust a move? I know nothing about the meds issue, but I know a good bit about how much better mentally things can be when you get the old blood moving and some 'feel good chemicals' firing in the brain. Please let me encourage you to try it!

| I absolutely know that you are correct, and I will begin a workout program. When I did Atkins 5 years ago, I did a home video called "Body Flex" and it was wonderful at trimming those inches. 20 minutes/day, on an empty stomach, and that's it. My problem is that I'm a procrastinator (sp?) and have been all my life. I just need to get my head in right frame of mind, and I know that exercise will do me a world of good. Thanks for the encouraging words, and I'll keep you posted. |

| Well, there is a new challenge starting Sunday if you think you can pysch yourself up for it! You choose how many days to commit to. I am only going to promise 3 days, likely will do 4 but not going to risk a slug! Follow my 'coming soon' link if you want to think about it!

| Hi, Meds can definitely have an affect. I have found that it was true for me. I was on a medication that put major pounds on me in just a few months. I have been waiting for almost 2 years for my body to go back to "normal" so I can lose the weight. I am just hoping that the meds didn't do permanent havoc to my system. Also, you may be more resistant this time around. You may have to do the fat fast. Have you checked your level ketosis with the strips? I am buying some today so I will know when I hit the dark purple level. Good luck and have a great day, Tracy |

| Dr. Atkins talks about Metabolic Resistance (Chapter 20), and you may get some insight there. Meds totally play a role. My doctor had just asked me to go on diuretics but I'm holding off until I've dropped 20 lbs to see if I really must, and I decided this becasue of what I read in the DANDR. I really hear you about the procrastination, and it's often hard for me to start exercising, too. One thing you might find fun is to just get a pedometer, it's a little thing you attach to your waistband to record your steps during the day. I've gotten myself started by making a challenge to see if I can get more steps in today than yesterday. I got mine at Walmart for $5. Someone else made a suggestion here that really worked for me. She said she gave herself permission to just to 10 minutes of whatever activity. Once you're started you usually go for more, but even if just 10 minutes, it's totally okay. You're so on the right path. Just keep going!

| Tracy, you may be on to something! My meds have not caused me to gain weight in the past, but they may be stopping my weight loss. (I've been really good. So, what is the "fat fast?" If you can't eat carbs and you can't eat fat, what's left? |

| Fat fast is just basically a regimen for a few days only to get you into ketosis if you aren't getting into ketosis with induction. Few persons actually need it. I loaned my book but it is probably in chapter 20 as Red mentions. Fat fast is eating almost nothing BUT fat. Little meals of cream cheese, or macadamia nuts, or deviled egg with mayo, that sort of thing. I don't even think I could do it. I know I would feel like crud, I feel like crud any day I miss my veggies. And if you do not know for sure that you are very metabolically resistant, the doctor said it can be dangerous. It isn't just to speed up loss, please understand. And never for more than a few days.
