Default Same old story

Today is eleven weeks.

The gist of this same old story is that about four years ago I lost 45 pounds doing an extended induction.

Like an idiot I didn't go through the phases and just did "low carb" but I've kept the weight off for the past three years.

In April, I quit smoking after 20 years, gave myself permission to eat everything in the house and promptly gained weight. Imagine that.

I'm 5'10" and at this point I weighed 187 lbs. My ideal is between 170-175. Any smaller and I look like an ironing board. A girl needs a little curve.

On July 8, the day before I went on vacation with my friends, I started induction. Of course, I wanted to do it my way and still drink black coffee and diet Coke. So I did but other than that I was pretty strict.

When I weighed myself two weeks later, I was at 179. Woohoo.

But then I went to Kentucky for my class reunion and fell off the wagon. The next weekend we went to a festival and I couldn't pass up the fried apple pies like my grandmother used to make.... And then I had a handful of nuts here and there.

Quickly, I was back up to 183. And that's where I've been for the past three weeks.

Last Monday, I decided to give up aged cheeses and caffeine. So I did it. I kicked a 20 year coffee/diet coke habit. I also quit eating aged cheeses.

I think, however, that I ate more than usual as a reward for giving up these precious fuels.

Here I am, Tuesday morning, weigh day and still stuck at 183. WHAT?!?! I gave up coffee and NOTHING???? A total of FOUR pounds in the past eleven weeks.

I guess that I only quit smoking less than five months ago, I should be happy that I'm four pounds down instead of many pounds UP!!!

Oh, and I haven't done measurements but, no, my clothes aren't fitting any better...

And out of the past 77 days, I'm sure that I've been purple on the stix at least 70 of them. I've been purple for the past three weeks.

I've also been keeping a food journal pretty regularly.

So, I'm sure you all feel sorry for me... I guess my next plan of attack is to try to cut back on my salt intake. I won't bore you with the story of how many pork rinds I eat.

I just thought for sure that giving up the cheese and coffee would make a difference.

Thanks for listening!!!

I know it's frustrating going so long without a loss but the worst thing you can do now is give up. Just hang in there. Are you getting any exercise? Maybe you could join one of the challenges on the board. I know they keep me motivated. Good luck and keep the faith.

Exercise? What's that?

Oh, yeah, the part of my same old sad story that I left out on accident (or guilty conscience.)

The first two weeks of induction I was exercising--running and walking. Since the move, I've walked twice.

I"m thinking that I'm really not getting enough carbs. We're building a house and living in a travel trailer in the meantime. I told myself that if I could do an extended induction, I'd move to OWL when we get in the house.

I have very little food storage room in the camper and most of that is taken up with snack cakes, crackers, twinkies, and candy bars for my husband.

Anyway, I may try to go ahead and do the First Rung of OWL and do that until the house is finished---a couple more months...
