Default my first serious challenge

Today I'm having my first serious challenge since starting on this Atkins walk earlier this month. I'm not hungry. Got up, fixed a lovely omelet with red peppers, mushrooms, onion, yellow squash, garlic, and 3 eggs. Put it on the plate and thought, no way can I put that in my mouth. Somehow I did it. It tasted good but I wasn't hungry.

Also I'm challenged by a bad attitude. Okay, it's PMS week starting yesterday, that might be part of it. But I am grouchy and pessimistic and my body aches and I have a slight headache. Usually I'm only grouchy at this time of the month.

It started raining in earnest today, is this the start of our 8 month rainy season? I'm not ready for it this year.

Because of the above I've had a few sneaky thoughts of, wouldn't a thick luscious smoothie be good? But I've just started OWL so that's on a higher rung. Or, man that whole grain bread hubby had for toast this morning, what a goody that would be, toasted with cheese melted on top. But I'm not ready to test for whole grains. It's so interesting to try to witness that sneaky little voice, to stand back from it like it's a mischevious kid and say, you little sneaker. What's in it for you if I go off plan?

So the only thing I can drum up for a treat is chocolate hazelnut decaf tea, with a scant 1/8 tsp. of vanilla, and some heavy cream. That does sound good, I'll admit.

I'm not willing to go backwards. This has been a long journey for me. I'm not going backwards after working for 4-5 years to get where I am now. If I'm going to splurge I'm going to do it with some kind of legal foods. I might send hubby down to the store to get some pumpkin puree so I can have a pumpkin treat with whipped cream.

Right now I gotta stop thinking about me, I gotta get my house a little more picked up and put massage sheets on the table and welcome an old friend of mine for her weekly massage. I gotta think about doing with my hands and caring for someone else and get my mind off this food thing.

Wish me luck.

Red.. a little while back your ticker was cool.. you had lost exactly half your weight! It is even cooler now, you have lost more than you have left to lose! Isn't that awesome?

Hang in there.. bad days are temporary. You are a roaring success and I am proud of you!

Red - You're doing awesome!! Whenever I have one of those days where i have to have something sweet or something unfriendly - I usually go to Starbucks and get a sugar free vanilla decaf americano with room for 1/2 & 1/2. ANYTHING to help the sweet tooth.
Keep on keeping on - You are doing a fantastic job and being able to see past the things that might push you towards going off plan is great.
Go chug some water and brush your teeth (toothpaste usually kills any craving I might have) be kind to yourself and be proud of what you've done so far!

thanks momtomany1, I can't tell you how much that means to me. And you're right, I'm more than half way now. That is exciting.

and thanks, DLS, for the encouragement. I feel like moving on to OWL is the right move for me and is actually going to make it much easier b/c the variety is going to be so good. Thanks for your positive words.

and Colleenee, wow, your family picture just radiates with happiness and I can't help thinking that some of it comes from staying on this plan and working it. "Sugar free vanilla decaf Americano with half and half" yep, I can say that. I'll try it. Toothpaste, who'da thunk it?

Thank you so much, ladies, for caring and encouraging. You are all such positive role models.
