| I plan on having lots of yummy stuff at Thanksgiving and Christmas. That is why I am collecting and trying out recipes now that are low carb so I will be prepared when others are gorging on things that will try to undo what I've worked so hard for. I may have only lost 22 lbs so far but I don't EVER want them back. That is more weight that two of those big 10 lb bags of potatoes we all hate to lift into the shopping cart. (well, I don't do that anymore anyway, he he he). But my point is that one meal is not worth what might happen. It's not worth my feeling like crap the next few days. If you think you can truly do that and not "cheat" again on the left overs for the weekend after Thanksgiving and the crazy times of Christmas shopping then more power to you. But MOST people cannot stop with "just one" cheat day. They figure what the heck and they have that extra roll, or slice of pie, or gravy and potatoes. Good luck with whatever your choice is.

| I have "fallen off the wagon" on special occasion days usually 4 times per year...but I never cheat any other time. I feel like I work hard the rest of the time so why not. However I get right back on the next day, and I never feel like I don't want to return to this WOE. However I must say I feel crappy..sluggish and tired. Maybe this is the reason I get back on again so quickly! Good luck |

| I have done it. Oh, I just think I'll have a little bit, blah, blah, blah..the you get lazy w/ watching carbs and then you just full on fall of the wagon. Don't do it, it's not worth it. I've been trying to get back ON the wagon for about oh, say...9-10 months at this point. I could be skinny by now had I stuck with Atkins! Ugh. It's so not worth it, but ultimately it's your choice. Your waist, your loss. |

| Even doctor atkins had things off diet sometimes for special occasions. If i were you I would pick up to 3 things that feel you just have to have and then be good. Also try to keep it to the 1 meal that you want to cheat for, that way you wont undo all of your hard work. Make sure that you arent tempted by leftovers the next day. You will feel terrible after (emotionally and physically) and maybe for a day or two afterwards. When i did the diet the first time and got close to my goal i went on a family trip to visit relatives(hadnt seen them in years) and i cheated the whole weekend. It was like my body forgot how to digest carbs. I think i would of had much more fun if i wasnt so bloated out with food, it was so bad i looked pregnant. When i got back monday i still felt horrid. If i remember right it took 2 days for me to finally stop feeling so full that i was going to explode. But the 6 lbs i gained all came off by the 4th or 5th day.

| I make always make that awesome cheese and cauliflower dish for Thanksgiving and Christmas and I pig out on it with green beans and turkey. Then I'm so full that I don't want any of the other. (well, it sounds good anyway.) |

| Seriously, I think the people that are serious about losing weight and serious about maintaining it are the ones who make low carb dishes and indulge on those. |

| I'm with DLS and kellymch, I'm finding recipes for things I can make for my own dinner and to take to visit with others that I will be socializing with. It's not like I don't go off plan, I do, like last week during PMS I ate 2 chocolate-pnut butter things about the size of 2 large marbles. And guess what, those 2 tiny little things set me off so that the next day I woke up thinking "whipped cream, lots of whipped cream, on pumpkin with Splenda" and I ate the whole can over the course of the day, just trying not to go all the way to eating ice cream. Yeah, it was that bad. We all have sentimental attachments to certain foods, and if it were me I might actually have one of granma's rolls. But I certainly would have legal foods along with me to contribute to the feast. For me, but maybe not for you, letting myself go back to an old pattern just sets me up for defeat. Like Dr. Atkins says, "Try to keep the control you've won, don't re-addict yourself. One slice of pie may have limited effects. A late-night debauch could send you off in the wrong direction for a month." p. 283 Best of luck in your choices.
