| Welcome (back), Geogirl. Trust me, the yo yo method of maintaining the weght you are at, if you can so easily gain (40#/2 mo) is doomed. The more times you go up and down, at least from my own similar experience, the more havoc you wreak on your health, the less momentum you have to lose it again when you start back down, plus the higher you are starting back down from. What you've already done to your metabolism should be a clue - do you feel good on the roller-coaster? Or do you find doing Atkins that even when you don't lose as fast as you want, you feel better, and don't gain 20# or more a month. (think about it, binge-starve makes your body try to gain and preserve fat even harder for the next starve the second you start your next binge. Take away the starve then, and that 20+ #/mo can translate into 12x20= 244# in one year.)(<5= RIP) Atkins WOL has a much better prognosis IMHO!

| I had a 1 pound weight gain today, but I'm not going to panic. I've had a lot of water which I am aware too much water can appear like water retention too, and I know that I need to give time for my body to get used to this, especially since there's more food in my body right now than there's been for years, probably still trying to process... Gonna keep going on induction for a couple of weeks and reserve judgment until I know what my body is going to do with this. Hanging in there! |

| Is it possible for you to stay off the scale during Induction?

| Congratulations on the loss!! I have no doubt that you'll be able to achieve the body you dream of having if you just stick to the plan and weight training.

My concern isn't whether atkins will work as I'm sure it would for people who haven't put their body through the horrific things I've done (36 days with no eating, followed by a huge weight gain of course) etc. etc. that I've done over the years. I'll know as I go, that's how I'm looking at it. |
