Atkins Phase: 14-day Induction

Default 2nd induction starting tomorrow

all last week i pretty much was doing induction but i just wasn't counting carbs. my keto strips started showing deep purple(moderate) yesterday. i did great on this program a few years ago, but being a newly quit smoker made it so hard. thursday will be 2.5 years smoke free and i'm ready to get the rest of me in shape not just my lungs!!! the only thing i'm not sure i can give up is my 24OZ cup of coffee each morning. i do construction so i like me a steaming insulated mug of coffee. i'll try decaff and see how that goes. i take my cofee black with splenda and i ordered some liquid sucralose from ebay that should be here tomorrow

any who i just weighed and took some measurements. currently 240 with a 47"gut and 43" waist. i have a very stocky broad shoulders body type at 5'7" so i'd be happy to just hit 200 and take it from there. when i can figure out how to make one of those weight tracker things i will add one to my signature i also have a before pic that i might decide to add to the appropriate forum

Congratulations for giving up the smokes!

I totally understand how you feel about giving up the coffee. I had a rough time cutting back the diet coke, the only way I was able to cut it was to take it very slow. I dont think Id have been able to go 'cold turkey'

It sounds like your unofficial induction was going well, Keep up the great work!

Just wanted to say well done for giving up the smoking.. I'm going 3 years. and still sometimes get the urge.. and thats when all my weight problems started. Keep strong and enjoy your coffee.. Decaf is okay.. I have splenda and cream... I'm sure thats okay...??

Confession: I am a coffee drinker and have not given it up, I drink it black, two cups a day, and at night a drink one instant decaf with splenda. Unless it slows my weight loss significantly, I am not quitting the coffee. I lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks of induction and am happy with that. The Atkins book I have says you can have coffee.

but it says no caffeine, i usually have 1 insulated 24oz mug of regular coffee a day. i may try the decaff, but i have always wondereed what the point is to drinking decaff coffee.. lol

I gave up smokes about 10 years ago last October (I became a cookie monster). I gave up coffee for my fusion doctor orders. I started drinking tea- Jasmine-Green, I have 2-20 oz mugs most days. Tea caffene is different then coffee- it stays with you longer and doesn't make me overly jittery. Plus green tea is great for you. Every morning I drink a bottle of water while my tea is steeping.

I will not give it up- even if it slows my loss. It is non negotiable for me. I say enjoy your coffee or tea unless the doctor your personal MD tells you otherwise.
