| Hiya HOn I must say I sometimes think the same, as when I first did Atkins, with ease (wasn't so precise about everything but just stuck to the 20g carb thing and then moved up 5 after two weeks) the weight just fell off, alarmingly.. and then for some reason the more I kept starting and stopping I noticed i was loosing at a slower rate. This time round, I'm now in week four and lost 7pounds... which was quite disheartening as the scale is not moving.. BUT.... this timer ound i took everyones advise and measured, and true enough, I've lost inches instead of pounds, plus my clothes are defiantley telling me that I'm going down (even if it is at slower rate than the beginning.)... Plus TOM is here, which might be an additional factor. Are you noticing any changes in your clothes at all.. and are you measuring. Its abit frustrating when us lot loose at a slower rate than all the success stories, but at least its moving... |

| The really bad news is that I haven't lost a pound this time around. It's been a whole month. The only exercise I get is a leisurely bike ride a few times a week with my son. It's only been 2 weeks doing that, but I figured it has to be better than sitting on a couch. so here are the answers, ZERO loss. I haven't measured but no change in the fit of my clothes. I drink approximately 48 oz a day of water. My meals consist of the very basics, eggs, meat, fish and poultry. Some days it's 2 hardboiled eggs, some days its 5 deviled eggs. Sometimes I eat burgers fro BK or MCdonalds w/no buns of course. the only carb intake I've had is sugar free flavored coffee creamer and I count for those carbs. 2 - 3 times a week I have veggies and I stay uner 20 carbs. I've read that some people slow down if there's not enough carbs, and that can be my problem - but to NOT lose a pound in clean induction for a month makes no sense to me. I lost 70 lbs last time around, but I wasn't on the medication. I also was VIGOROUSLY working out with a trainer which I can't do now (nor do I have the desire to). I cut my caffiene and splenda down. I cut out crystal light. I don't even chew gum anymore! I feel like such a failure because I just keep gaining each attempt. I've gained 15 lbs trying to start up again. |

| You should be eating veggies daily, not 2-3 times a week! Even in induction, the rule says approx. 3 cups per day. Then for water... 64 oz is the least you should drink.

| Lola - Definately need to eat those veggies on the Induction list, but keep drinking the water. Sweetner says 0 carbs, but truely closer to 1. I have coffee in the morning, water during the day and have one diet coke at night as my reward for making it thru the day. I would urge you to not give up even though it would be easy to do so. Anything worth achieving will give you many opportunities to walk away with out the prize. If you continue and succeed the reward will be priceless! You can always talk to me. Just remember the weight didn't appear overnight, so neither will it disappear overnight. |

| Okay, I want to say, I'm sorry if these seems harsh. You're not doing induction. You haven't been doing a "clean induction". There's no nice way to put it. A lot of us are a little more lenient about the rules the second, third, fifth time around and think if we cut out things - go lower in carbs, etc. that it will work faster. Newsflash - Dr. Atkins wrote Atkins the way it is because *IT WORKS*. WHile I have no idea what you eat daily, or what you weigh, you really need to clean it up if you want to see the losses again. Water: You should be drinking (as a minimum) 64oz plus (I think) about an oz for each lb you want to lose. Veggies: Induction has lists of veggies!! 2-3 cups off the first list, one cup off the second if you eat 2c off the first. This is *DAILY* not weekly!!! Fast Food: Umm.. You realize that these foods have extra carbs, and calories that are insane. ONE cheeseburger without the bun is 150calories and *5* grams of carbs!! I used to eat about 4 of these for dinner my whatever-time around. The wellbutrin shouldn't be affecting it, common side effects of wellbutrin include anorexia and weight loss. It depends on your dose, but you're not taking over 450mg/day so this should not be your issue. In all honesty, the way you're eating, plus the fact that you're basically not working out are the major things against you. Again, I'm sorry if this seems harsh. It's meant more as guidelines of how to succeed with this WoL, not a bashing.

| I knew I read it somewhere! On pages 263-264 of DANDR it talks about anti-depressants and weight loss resistance. It says that this is the case particularly with SSRI's, but does not exclude other anti-depressants from this effect. Wellbutrin is not an SSRI. That being said, Lyssie is absolutely correct about you not following the plan well at all. I don't know what you are doing, but it's not Atkins.

| Lola, I was doing "almost Atkins" and it wasn't working for me, either. You said you have cut back on your caffeine. I had to do it by the book--cut it out completely. I felt really rotten for a few days, but what a difference it makes. Also, some of the fast food burgers have fillers -- they are not 100% beef. Also, the right proportion of veggies has turned Atkins from difficult to easy for me. And don't fudge on more than three splendas a day. That rule is there for a reason. Once you get past the clean induction, I won't guarantee a fast weight loss, but I bet you will see a steady one. Good luck!!!! |

| Hey sweetie, I am sorry this diet isn't working for you but like the others said, you really have to do it by-the-book. First toss those strips, they are mostly a waste of money. Second, stay off the scales, measure instead Third, eat your veggies, but some salsa on those morning eggs, have a tuna or taco salad for lunch. Mostly, use fitday and make sure your in the range. If your not eating enough and that could be the issue, your body is just holding on to what it has thinking its being starved. Are you eating 3 meals and a snack Post a menu so the experts can check it out. Give it two more week.. by-the-book and then let us know how its going. We can do this. |
