I know from experience how had it is to go through loosing a beloved pet -- I was there just a few months ago and my heart is breaking for you now. You've come too far to mess up now....you can get through this!

| Honey, I am so sorry. But there is a point you reach when you realize that food isn't going to make horrible stuff better, and that you still have the same responsibility to take care of yourself when life is throwing rocks at you... actually even more so. It is an inner strength that builds as you go. You might even be at that point already and not know it yet, and this might be the test that proves it to you, in which case you wake up tomorrow a stronger person. I am real real sorry about your furbaby friend. Do look after yourself.

| Be strong...I know if is a tough time, just think of all the happy memories you had with your dog, and all the good times you have had throughout 11 years. Only time will heal everything. |

| Sorry to hear about your loss kib. That totally sucks! As much as it hurts you have to take care of yourself. I agree with imagoodeone. You have to eat something. You will make it thru this!

| Turning to comfort food is really the old you...trust me. I just had some shocking news a few weeks ago and went into a downward spiral. Unfortunately the cheats only made me feel worse, both physically and mentally. I'm not going to say you HAVE TO do anything....you don't HAVE TO do anything right now. Losing a pet is worse than losing a loved one sometimes. I lost my dog (who I found in the woods when I was 6) when i went away to college at 19. I was a total mess. He died in my dad's arms at the vet. Time may not totally heal, but the memories that you'll call on over time will help you realize what a wonderful life you gave her, and what a wonderful life she gave you.

| I have a standard question I ask myself--"What, if anything, would be better if I eat________ to drown my misery?" The answer is always, "Nothing." I would feel worse. I actually force myself to think it out. I watched my daughter die horribly over a 17 day period in 2004. First she was on life support, when they took her off they said she would die right away. She lasted another 12 days, but it was horrible every minute. That 17-day period every anniversary is the longest 17 days of the year. I have to give myself "the talk" more than once a day. It would be so easy to dive into the comfort foods, but if I did, she'd still be dead, and I would feel horrible and sick. It happens near her birthday, too, and Mother's Day. I'm already dreading May 10th. I'm so sorry for your loss. I still miss my favorite dog who died over 20 years ago. Dogs are family--our furbabies.

| Kibs...I'm so sorry. I suffered a traumatic loss of a beloved pet last year...I know your pain. Honestly, you might not be too interested in eating for a while...but make sure you get some protein in you to sustain your energy.

Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again. |

| Kibs - I'm so sorry to hear you lost your furbaby last night. Nothing can prepare us for the lose of a loved one, including a pet. Hang in there - stay away from the illegal foods, knowing you are doing the right thing for you and your body. As an emotional eater, I found that triggers that make me want to eat the wrong foods still show up no matter what diet or plan I am on .. recognizing those triggers and breaking the habit of falling back on food is a lesson I am still working on learning. Be strong and the urge to cheat will pass - I promise. ~ Dana ~ |
