Default Gearing Up For 2nd Time Around

Hi everyone!

I will be starting Atkins again Sunday. Right now I've been grocery shopping to get everything that I need to begin. I was looking in the Review Recipe section. I've been mentally preparing myself for the permanent life changing event. Can someone tell me how many calories, fat, etc I'm suppose to take in on induction? From looking at some of those other menus, I may not be taking in enough. I'm going to go to my fitday account that I have and don't use. Any advice is welcomed and appreciated.

Erica

Good for you to plan before starting!

During Induction, the percentages you should aim for are 65% fat, 5% carbs, 30% protein.

The required caloric intake is tricky. The number really depends on your age, metabolism, activity level, weight, etc. and also on the foods where those calories are coming from. As Dr. Atkins explains in DANDR, you should eat if hungry or if six hours have passed since your last meal. You should also stop eating when you are satisfied, not full or stuffed.

I believe that the best way to overcome temptation is not with willpower, which is so often in short supply, but with our brain power, a potentially unlimited resource.

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"
