Default Results!!!

So excited! Results are wonderful and I had to post here because I want to tell EVERYONE.

I went on program April 27 2009 and this is probably like my 4th attempt. The first attempt I lost 86 lbs and slowly gained it back. The other attempts only lasted about 2 weeks.

THIS TIME I decided to give myself more accountability. I solicited the help of my doctor to medically follow me, my sister to measure me monthly and a psychiatrist to help me figure out the issues along the way, Fitday to track my progress and give me some data to reflect on and a dietitician to help me learn to eat to maintain my losses. My doctor filled me in on something that made a huge difference..... I take a diuretic for my blood pressure and since most of the initial loss of weight in the beginning phase of Atkins is water, my weight loss would be at a slower pace than average because I don't have that water to lose. This helped me be a little more patient in the beginning. So I stuck in there..... The psychiatrist is helping me develop patterns of regular eating so that I can train my body and my metabolism when to eat and establish healthier eating habits and avoid binging. I went to see the doctor yesterday and hopped on the scale for the first time (didn't do it before because I didn't want to be discouraged) and I was down from 306 to 288.6 but the most incredible part in all of this is that I lost 6 INCHES on my hips!!!! I am in pants two sizes smaller already!!!

I really just want to tell those of you that attempt and give up after two weeks should stop for one minute before you put that brownie in your mouth and ask "I've gotten this far, is this really worth it" and whatever your thinking, I promise you, the answer is NO! Stick in there...this is a science, the weight does come off and if it doesn't, your not following the rules.

I'm on my way .... I'm going to do it this time and I am going to make permanent changes and keep it off!

I am so very excited for you. Really figured out the tools you needed to make yourself successful. I agree that when you begin, sometimes being accountable only to yourself isn't enough. Congratulations on a superb start to your new life.

PS- you may want to edit your post because you have yourself starting at 206 and it looks like you gained 82 pounds rather than losing weight.

Thanks Kausha....yeah, my sister was astonished by the 6 inches .... my pants are so big and my co worker said today "wow, you can really see how much smaller you've gotten on your bottom half!" YAY! It's weird that this time I am losing it in my lower half (which is wonderful) where before my top half shrunk quick. I started in a Size 26 pants (could squeeze into a 24) and I am now in a 22. That part is very motivating. I'm not thrilled with the weight loss speed but if it's coming off in inches, I'll take that!!!!
