Talking Can't (won't) give up the coffee

Have had to face up to the fact have put on weight and need to redo Atkins . Stepsons wedding back in UK on 5th July....first time back for me for 3 years...Yikes all those relatives and friends...
Did Atkins 6 years ago ...got on well with it so here goes again...
But ....having knocked the beer, wine and vodka on the head.....on 5th day of induction...( down 5lbs) doing exercise even though it is over 30 degrees C in Spain, sweat sweat sweat....and keeping below the carb level despite having milk in 3 cups tea in the morning...( absolutely necessary....) I cannot give up the caffeine fix.....its the only thing left in life at the moment ....also cannot get many products here and lots of food stuff unlabelled so am having to eat very simply....will develop a phobia of chicken soon.....
Not a great meat eater as it is....oH woe is me.....I don't really mean it as feel fine. no problems except headache on second day....but sleeping well, not hungry....
But ...getting to point.....as i am losing at steady weight.....can i presume Im not caffeine intolerant since I drank coffee ++ first time round and still did OK...Any experiences re second timers??? THe book isn't the bible???

Welcome to ADBB, Hector.

Congrats for the 5 lbs lost! I hope you had also taken body measurements before you began, as they'll be very useful when the scale becomes more stubborn. If not, now's the time to do it. Did you plan your first days? Are you exercising?

Is there a reason why you are using milk instead of cream? Cream is allowed during all phases of Atkins.

Coffee. Many people will have issues with it (not necessarily cravings, but also other symptoms of blood sugar instability), which is why Dr. Atkins warned against drinking it. Then there are other people who can drink caffeine up to a point in their Atkins journey and then have to give it up in order to keep losing weight. Also, it is not necessary for caffeine to stall your weight loss---it might simply slow it down, in which case you'd never know how much better you could have done without it. But if you believe caffeine has no negative effect on your health and your Atkins, then that's okay too. You know what its negative effects can be, so you are responsible for making an informed decision regarding its consumption as part of your WOE. Just don't tell others it's fine to have coffee, because you might jeopardize their weight loss results.

Chicken. Why are you eating only chicken? Why not eat some red meat or fish or shellfish or other kind of poultry, like turkey for example? Did you check the "Atkins Food and Recipes" section on the Board?

Imagine that you're doing great, losing weight, feeling better than ever, thrilled with yourself, hearing compliments from friends and acquaintances---and then it happens! Despite all your good intentions, you're mightily tempted by a food you're not supposed to have. What to do? I'll tell you this: You'd better have a strategy ready!"

Hector, the book is the bible. That being said, nobody here is going to tell you that drinking coffee is "legal" here. If it works for you, and you understand that it may impede your progress, and you have made the decision to continue, by all means have at it. I do, and I have found that it works for me. If I stall, its my fault. Enjoy this WOE and the feeling and benefits you get from it. I look forward to seeing more of your posts! Welcome to STAC.
