Default STAC Rollcall Friday 11-6-9

Well, my halloween blunder turned into a whole week blunder...

I've realized winter is around the corner and if I don't get myself on lock down now it's gonna be a depressing, LONG winter with weight gain like crazy... seems to be a pattern for me.

So, I went to my car this morning (covered in frost - oh yay) and decided no more little cheats. I'll be baking all afternoon when I get off work, because failure to plan = planning to fail.

So, it's a day of work, then grocery shopping, then cooking for me!

Have a great day everyone!

Glad you caught yourself Plsmachic, that's the attitude, get right back on track.

I'm here and on plan, darn scale went up a pound today, but I'm not going to worry about it any longer, all the up down and all arounds winds up with a new lower number at some point, like even my up a pound today is a pound lower than my down a couple of weeks ago, so I know its still working and I'm heading in the right direction.

I think I'm going to have to abandon my hope to be in onderland by Christmas, at the rate I'm going it won't be until around my birthday in February, but that's okay, once I'm there it won't matter how long it took me to get there.

Have a great day all!

I found my old Atkins journal from when I went from 196 in Feb. to 149 by sept. 3rd and I noticed every time I gained a lb. within the next couple days I'd drop two. So! Hold out! A whooshie is coming!!

I'm here and on plan.

I'm down 3 pounds from last week.

My husband is doing this with me. He actually eats a little better than I do some days as he is always getting in his salads for lunch. Last week he lost 4.8 pounds, this week he had a two pound gain. He has NOT went off plan, or even indulged in a tiny bit of anything. Does anyone know what would cause this. No over sized portions, no forbidden foods, and staying at 20 carbs. I'm puzzled and he is disheartened. I am telling him NOT to quit, to hang in there and he'll see a whoosh this week like last week. Does this happen to you guys?

Good job Plsmachic for getting yourself back on track before too much damage was done.
Barb, I KNOW how frustrating that up and down thing can be. That's why I try so hard to NOT weigh any time but Mondays. It will happen for you.
Congratulations Jenileigh, Great weight loss . For your husband, there could be alot of factors. 4.8 loss in one week is huge. He may have been a bit dehydrated when he weighed giving him a lower than actual loss. Too, after a big loss the body will sometimes "take a break" as it get's used to the losses before moving forward again. Make sure you show him some of the success stories on this board so he doesn't go back to his previous bad habits.
Me.... rainy day here, so I won't get much done outside. I'm on track and meeting the challenges I've entered.

Have a great day folks .

Yes, it can happen for no apparent reason...

Did he add back any food this week?

Or did he start exercising more?

How much water is he drinking?

I'm here - better late than never. Very busy day at work today, but got a lot done - and I needed to, I'm swamped - but love it!

At 231 again this morning, which is good - I know my body is just getting used to this range - I'm ok with it!

Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Georgiana,
No-he added in nothing.
Yes he is drinking plenty of water!
No-he didn't add any exercise.
Basically this week he ate the same things he did last week. The same breakfast, I fixed his lunch and I do salad one day, tuna with mayo the next. Dinner were about the same too, only allowed foods. He is getting 3 cups of allowed veggies a day, no more than 3 oz of cheese (but he doesn't eat cheese everyday) and his portions are the same too. Maybe he'll see a big whoosh this week. At least taking off the two pounds. He weighed on the same scales and they are accurate.

I was very puzzled.

His body is more resistant to this diet than mine. I remember that from the last diet. If I remember correctly he did have to do the fat flush twice in a 6 month period to boost his loss.

We may have to do that again.

Hmmmm

I know this advice won't make me popular around here... but he might want to add more veggies if he eats only very low carb veggies. If his diet is nutritionally bankrupt (from not eating enough veggies), this can slow down his metabolism.

Did his body measurements change?

"Fat flush"... you mean, the Fat Fast? The Fat Fast is not meant to "boost" one's losses. In fact, the combination of low calorie and low carbohydrate can mess up one's thyroid (hence slow down one's metabolism even further). I would not recommend it to anyone unless done under medical supervision. When Dr. Atkins used the Fat Fast, he did it with patients that were under his care...

Maybe post a menu, with quantities for every food? We could take a look.

How many calories is he eating?

How many net carbs, on average? And how many of those are coming from vegetables?

Do you trust that he does not sneak a few things here and there.
We have had some husbands here confessing that they brought their wife brought lunch to job and ate it happily and then dropped by the vending machine in the break.
Anyways this diet is often a bit up and down without us necessarily doing something wrong.
