    My nephews were in town for a while. We ate out everyday but I followed the atkins diet: tandori chicken and shirimp, Cheeseburgers (no bun), steak, fried lemon chicken wings from wing stop and grilled chicken salad with ranch . You can imagine how hard my mounth hit the floor when I weighed and found out I gained 6 pounds! I couldnt believe it. Im still not sure what caused the weight gain but I've been eatting at home for two days now and Im already loosing it. Before I started this diet I ate every meal out but this experiance has really been an eye opener.

    What a drag!

    Well glad to hear its comeing off quickly for you.
    I imagine outside foods carry perhaps some hidden sugars
    and perhaps extra salt that made u retain.

    GLAD your eating home and learned from this experience.
    IT does stink to gain when you were makeing the right
    choices. GOOD LUCK on ur weight loss !

      Eating out is hard, because they stick so many hidden things in those dishes...extra sodium, sugar, preservatives....I know its unavoidable sometimes, and it's great you made the best choices you could, but its definitely best when we have control over what goes into our food! Glad to hear its coming back off!

        Yup!! Eating out can be dangerous!! I ate out at Applebees a lot for a 2 week period. I had their house sirloin with a salad. I did not gain weight but I lost 2 weeks of weight loss becasue ( I found out after the fact ) Those steaks are injected with a sugar solution,and have sugar in the seasoning they put on it! YIKES!!! Hidden sugar and hidden sodium are my worst nightmare.

          We live in a sugar society. Resturants make money by serving as much low COST food as they can... Low cost food IS CARBOHYRATES... SO... They do inject sugar, use cornstarch and any other additives that cut the cost of their servings without cutting the size of their servings... Those "Hidden carbs" will get ya everytime!

            Thanks all, just needed to vent. You are all right, hidden sugars are in everything! You would never know by just tasting. Im shocked to hear that about applebees. They have an atkins menu there. I wonder if the atkins items are sugar laiden too. I love the ultimate bacon cheeseburger from Jack n the box, but I think there patties taste a little sweet.

              For many people, low carb means more than we are allowed! I generally try and ask about the foods in restaurants. Once, I asked how a marinade was prepared, and, of course, the answer was 'with sugar.' When eating out I won't use their dressing, but will just eat the salad dry unless I have remembered to bring my own. Glad you are back on track.
