  • Iron

    Hi all

I've been reccommended some tablets by my personal trainer -

Quest - one a day multivitamin
    Quest - Mega B Complex
    Any Vitamin C tablets

The multivitamins contain iron. Is this a bad thing? Will I do any long term damage by taking them? Will the iron affect my monthly cycle?

    Thanks

    Re: Iron

Dr. Atkins didn't want us to take additional iron because we get enough of it in our diet. My only advice to you is to see your physician. There are simple blood tests that can be done to determine if you are anemic.

      Re: Iron

More than likely you can get that same multivitamin w/o Iron. If not I'm sure you can find one very similar w/o Iron. And yes, I think Iron is one of the few supplements that too much is a problem.

Angelstar--I agree, too much is not good. Try to get a multivitamin for those 50+, those don't contain iron.

And by the way, you look FABULOUS!!! wow!

          Re: Iron

talk with your doc. many females don't absorb Iron well in the intestines so the added Iron int he foods we are eating doesn't counter TOM losses and those folk do need iron even on Atkins but too much Iron can cause a problem too.

most men's vits don't hasve iron.

of you want to see how much Iron Fe you are getting simply plug your foods into one of the online free sites like wwwfitday.com and see if your Fe exceeses 45 mg
