    Diet Soda -- True story

    July 2005
A new three year study has confirmed the link between aspartame and cancer. The toxic sweetener was known to be dangerous when corrupt FDA officials approved it against the advice of their own scientists.

Click the following link to read this recent study, entitled "ASPARTAME MAKERS TELL A WHOPPER!": http://www.wnho.net/whopper.htm

This new study was also reported on 14 July 05 by the BBC in their report entitled:

Fresh doubts about the safety of an artificial sweetener have been raised by Italian scientists who have linked its use to leukaemias in rodents.

    March 2004 email
In October of 2001, a friend's sister started getting very sick. She had stomach spasms and she was having a hard time getting around. Walking was a major chore. It took everything she had just to get out of bed, she was in so much pain. By March 2002, she had undergone several tissue and muscle biopsies and was on 24 various prescription medications. The doctors could not determine what was wrong with her. Because of her pain and sickness, she was sure she was dying.

She put her house, Bank accounts, life insurance, etc. in her oldest daughter's name, and made sure that her younger children were to be taken care of. She also wanted a last hoorah, so she planned a trip to FL (basically in a wheelchair) for March 22nd.

On March 19th my friend called her to ask how her most recent tests went, and she said they didn't find out anything on the test, but they believed she had MS. He recalled an E-mail article I might have sent to him and asked his sister if she drank diet pop? She told him that she did. As a matter of fact, she was about to open one at that very moment. He told her not to open it, to stop drinking diet pop altogether. He then E-mailed her the Aspartame article. His sister called him within 32 hours after their phone conversation and told him she had stopped drinking the diet pop AND she could walk! The muscle spasms went away as well. She said she didn't feel 100% but she sure felt a lot better. She told him she was going to her doctor with this article and would call him when she got home. Well, she called and said her doctor was amazed! He is going to call all of his MS patients to find out if they consumed artificial sweeteners of any kind.

In a nutshell, she was being poisoned by the Aspartame in the diet soda and literally dying a slow and miserable death. When she got to FL March 22nd, all she had to take was one pill, and that was a pill for the Aspartame poisoning. She is well on her way to a complete recovery and she is walking. No wheelchair!

This article saved her life: If it says "SUGAR FREE" on the label, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! ASPARTAME," is marketed as 'NutraSweet', 'Equal', and 'Spoonful'.

In a keynote address by the EPA, it was announced that in the United States in 2001 there was an epidemic of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. It was difficult to determine exactly what toxin was causing this to be rampant.

Why Aspartame is so dangerous: When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F., the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants.

The methanol toxicity mimics, among other conditions, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. Many people were being diagnosed in error. Although multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, methanol toxicity is.

Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially with Diet Coke, and Diet Pepsi drinkers. The victim usually does not know that the Aspartame is the culprit. He or she continues its use; irritating the lupus to such a degree that it may become a life-threatening condition. We have seen patients with systemic lupus become asymptotic, once taken off diet sodas.

In cases of those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (when in reality, the disease is methanol toxicity), most of the symptoms disappear. Many cases have been seen where vision loss returned and hearing loss improved markedly. This also applies to cases on tinnitus and fibromyalgia
. If you are using ASPARTAME, NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful etc., and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision or memory loss... you may have ASPARTAME poisoning! Is it reversible?

YES! YES! YES! STOP drinking diet sodas and be alert for Aspartame on food labels.

Many products are fortified with it. This is a serious problem. A doctor remarked that so many people seemed to have been symptomatic for MS during his recent visit to a hospice. A nurse stated that six of her friends who were heavy Diet Coke addicts, had all been diagnosed with MS. Doesn't this seem beyond coincidence?

Diet soda is not a diet product! it is a chemically altered, multiple SODIUM (salt) and
Aspartame-containing product that actually makes you crave carbohydrates. It is far more likely to make you GAIN weight!

Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics. We found that physicians, who believed that they had a patient with retinopathy, in fact had symptoms caused by Aspartame. The Aspartame drives the blood sugar out of control. Thus diabetics may suffer acute memory loss due to the fact that aspartic acid and phenylalanine are NEUROTOXIC when taken without the other amino acids necessary for a good balance.

Treating diabetes is about BALANCE. Especially with diabetics! The Aspartame passes the blood/brain barrier and it then deteriorates the neurons of the brain; causing various levels of brain damage, seizures, depression, manic depression, panic attacks, uncontrollable anger and rage. Consumption of aspartame causes these same symptoms in non-diabetics, as well.

Documentation and observation also reveal that thousands of children diagnosed with ADD and ADHD have had complete turn around in their behavior when these chemicals have been removed from their diet. So called "behavior modification prescription drugs" (Ritalin and others) are no longer needed. Truth be told, they were never needed in the first place!

Most of these children were being "poisoned" on a daily basis with the very foods that were "better for them than sugar." It is also suspected that the Aspartame in thousands of pallets of Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi consumed by men and women fighting in the
Gulf War may be partially to blame for the well-known Gulf War Syndrome.

Dr. Roberts warns that it can cause birth defects, i.e. mental retardation, if taken at the time of conception and during early pregnancy. Children are especially at risk for neurological disorders and should NEVER be given artificial sweeteners. There are many different case histories to relate of children suffering grand mal seizures and other neurological disturbances due to the use of NutraSweet.

Unfortunately, it is not always easy to convince people that Aspartame is to blame for their child's illness. Stevia, which is a sweet herb, NOT A MANUFACTURED ADDITIVE, helps in the metabolism of sugar, which would be ideal for diabetics. It has now been approved as a dietary supplement by the FDA. It is known that for many years the FDA outlawed this "true sweet food," due to their loyalty to MONSANTO Chemical Company.

Books on this subject are available: EXCITOXINS:THE TASTE THAT KILLS by Dr. Russell Blaylock, (Health Press 1-800-643-2665) and DEFENSE AGAINST ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE by Dr H. J. Roberts, also a diabetic specialist. These two doctors will soon be posting a position paper with case histories on the deadly effects of Aspartame on the internet. According to the conference of the American College of Physicians, "We are talking about a plague of neurological diseases directly caused by the use of this deadly poison."

Herein lies the problem: There were Congressional Hearings when Aspartame was included in 100 different product and strong objection was made concerning its use. Since this initial hearing, there have been two subsequent hearings and still, nothing has been done.

The drug and chemical lobbies have very deep pockets. Sadly, MONSANTO"S patent on Aspartame has EXPIRED.

There are now over 5000 products on the market that contain this deadly chemical and there will now be thousands more introduced. Everybody wants a "piece of the Aspartame pie." I assure you that MONSANTO, the creator of Aspartame, knows how deadly it is. And isn't it ironic that MONSANTO funds, among others, the American Diabetes Association, the American Dietetic Association and the Conference of the American College of Physicians? This has been recently exposed in the New York Times. These Associations cannot criticize any additives, or convey their link to MONSANTO because they take money from the food industry and are required to endorse their products.

Senator Howard Metzenbaum wrote and presented a bill that would require label warnings on products containing Aspartame, especially regarding pregnant women, children and infants. The bill would also institute independent studies on the known dangers and the problems existing in the general population regarding seizures, changes in brain chemistry, neurological changes and behavioral symptoms. The bill
    was killed.

It is know that the powerful drug and chemical lobbies are responsible for this, letting loose the hounds of disease and death on an unsuspecting and uninformed public.

Well, You are informed now! YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW! Please print this out and / or E-mail to your family and friends! They have a right to know, too.

Re: For those still convinced a Diet Coke a day is ok...

All I know is I have been drinking diet soda with aspartame in it for as long as it has been around, what, ten to twenty years? I have tried low carb with and without it and have never seen a differance either way. I make sure I get at least two liters of water and only allow two cans of diet soda a day which are in a big cup filled up with ice, which is more water. It takes me hours to drink it and I enjoy it. I used to drink two liters a day and only because of the phosphoric acid in it did I lower it to only two cans. A third of my previous amount per day.
If there are health risks to aspartame, I have not seen them and I am not worried about it. I have read the mentioned article many times and feel if it makes you nervous don't use it, but i asked my Doc and he said he had not been convinced it is dangerous and go ahead. Better than regular soda. I have cooked and baked with aspartame as well and now they are coming out with stuff about Splend being dangerous too. No sweetner is safe, sugar is bad and if you believe everything out there, all the artifical ones are too so you just have to make an informed decision and do what you feel most comfortable with.

Re: For those still convinced a Diet Coke a day is ok...

I don't think you should drink loads of any sort of carbonated drinks, but this article is such blatant, sensationalist, bleeding-heart, scaremongering propaganda that I almost couldn't bring myself to read it - these articles make me so cross. No offense to you Maribelle, it is an interesting read, and I intend to look at some more articles at a later time.

This 'true story' is not based on any scientific studies, though I am sure if the author took 5 seconds to read a few articles on the internet they probably could have found some.
The western world today is controlled by fear - I have come to believe that the authorities realise that they remain in power by inventing an invisible enemy that they can protect us from: keeping us in a ready state of low-level fear, anxiety and general worry.

It seems that as soon as someone publishes a study saying that something is good for you, the next week, another study will say it's bad for you: look at omega fish oils - they were lauded as being extremely beneficial to your health, but then a few weeks ago, I saw a few programmes saying that they weren't as great as everyone first thought, and may not have any beneficial effect on health. There is the ongoing debate about whether or not we should take vitamins. Swordfish, marlin and tuna contain high levels of mercury apparently, though we used to be quite happy to put it into our dental cavities.

You can never tell what's round the corner, so I reckon you should just try to eat as much fresh, organic, locally produced foods as possible - when was the last scare story you heard about spinach?

It's hard work trying to look ater yourself really isn't it? With all the scare stories, trying to eat healthily, trying to eat organically, buying fair-trade, buying locally, GM-free foods - it's hard work and much more expensive, so you can see why people take the easier, cheaper option and end up ill through bad nutrition.

There should really be some sort of shift to make healthy foods more accessible and less expensive with better options and information for school children to get them into better habits earlier. If anyone saw Jamie Oliver's 'School Dinner's' show, you can see what i mean - the overly processed, high-carb-high-sugar, 'orange' foods that get given to children in school cafeterias must be some of the reason that there is such a high rise in incidence of ADHD. I got into terrible habits at school - taking a packed lunch of sandwiches, choccie bar, crisps (sometimes) and a piece of fruit, with some orange cordial, which I ate on the way to school sometimes or at first recess, stocking up at the same time with choccie bars and stickie buns at tuck shop, and sometimes, even having a school dinner (usually something like pizza and chips, followed by an iced bun), and then, as soon as i was in from school I would sit on the sofa, have a bowl of Frosties and fall aslepp for an hour - no wonder I was always so tired - look at that glycaemic load!!!!

Anyway, I kind of cannot remember why I started this rant now, oh yes, chain email scare stories... just delete them!!

whenever you get a 'health scare' note like this the best place to check it's authenticity is www.snopes.com ( a couple of people have linked to the story on this site, it's definately false). It's also a place you can check any 'wow that's hard to believe' story.

A couple of the quotes on the page for this story sums it up:

A highly inaccurate "chain letter" is being circulated via e-mail warning the reader of the health dangers of aspartame (Nutrasweet) diet drinks.

There is so much scientific untruth in it, it’s scary. Be careful, because others know how to manipulate you by this. Just because something is beyond your comprehension doesn’t mean it is scientific.
Health scare artists have found a whole new medium for terrorizing the public — the Internet. Individuals in search of accurate health information may literally become caught in the Web, where health hoaxes and urban medical myths run rampant. The health scare messages are always the same — whatever it is, it will make you sick.

Hmmm... I actually did a project on this and I found it to be false. The FDA did approve Aspartame, not as some kind of cospiracy against their people, but because it wasn't proven to be dangerous. For one the Aspartame they feed the rats daily was the amount contained in about 20 cans of diet coke (and they were solely feed that). Secondly, the rats were already predisposed to cancer geneticaly. So all in all, they fixed the results to get what they want, science is weird like that. Aspartame is actually just another essential amino acid and I don't see how it can be any different from "Sucralose".

We are all going to die someday. And too much of anything can kill you. Carbonated water can eat away your tooth enamel, too. If you avoid every substance that could be harmful to you, you will be deficient in many essentials for life. Variety is the spice of life. To get a mind full of junk, read on...
