Hi there,
I have seen so many people ask this question, I thought I'd answer it in a central location and link to it.
If your pictures are still the same large size on ADBB after you have changed to a smaller size in Photobucket, or whatever storage site you are using, here is what's going on:
Your computer has something called a cache. This is where it saves copies of image files, and other kinds of files that you view, temporarily. Why? Because it makes the computer run faster to access a file from the cache than to load it over again.
What happens is that your browser has a cache setting. When you resize your photo, then go back to ADBB to see your sig, or whatever, the browser reloads your old picture that it has in the cache. Not the new one.
How to clear out the cache and see what is really going on in real-time?
**If you are using Internet Explorer, you go up to the top of your browser window, to the right hand side where it says "Tools". Click on the Tools link. It will open up a small window. It will show the general settings. In the center of that window, you should see it says "Browsing History." Click on "delete". It will give you a list of things you might want to delete. Click on "delete files."
(If you want to speed up your computer, also delete cookies, but that will erase all your automatic logins with passwords, so if you don't know your passwords to sites, don't do this.)
**If you are using Mozilla Firefox, which I recommend to avoid a lot of viruses and spyware (get it at www.mozilla.com), CTRL + SHIFT + Delete is the hot key combination to clear private data, and it should clear your cache. Then try your photos again.
Try it and if it doesn't work, I'll field questions! Have a great ADBB Day!
