Having faffed around for a few weeks with doctor-recommended food, I'm up to 231 and restarting Atkins today. Allergy testing didn't reveal much - slight problem with wheat and egg white. So the issue really is standard IBS with fibre as a trigger. Did my first workout this morning - feeling good.

I appear to be down 6lbs already.

Cooking mojo alert. Tomorrow I'll either do buffalo burgers with leeks in a feta sauce, or duck stirfry. Going to do pesto-cream cheese partridge parcels, cavolo nero and artichokes on Wednesday. I'm working from home then, so I'll also make a crustless spinach & lardon quiche and freeze it in portions for a grab-and-go breakfast. Thursday will be pheasant (will make up a sauce of some kind, maybe hollandaise) with collard greens. Friday is lowcarb moussaka. I will have lamb steaks, diced chicken breast, and beef strips left, no doubt also with lots of veg, but I haven't planned that far yet and may end up freezing those. No venison available for this delivery, but Lidl has a lot of unusual stuff including kangaroo and ostrich, both of which I've had before, so this week isn't the end of the exploration. I expect to have a lot of veg leftover for the weekend so I'll probably make everything veggie soup with it if it won't keep. I couldn't afford to eat like this all the time but I'm having fun at the moment. No doubt the husband will cry mercy and ask for sausages and mash at some point; not everything I do will be as big a hit as the samphire last week, and I'm trying to keep it lowcarb. When I have the time, I adore main meal cooking (not keen on sweet stuff), but I tend to work really really long hours, so midweek meals are usually quickly thrown together.

You can't beat Lidl, I love it at this time of the year. Wow 6 pounds!

Another 2lbs this morning - it may only be water weight but I'll take what I can get!

Mmm ... Thai duck stirfry with fresh lemongrass and ginger, broccoli, mangetout, and pak choi. Big hit with the husband.

Pheasant stroganoff with onions, mushrooms and pak choi. Double-yum.

Another 2lbs down (total 10lbs since the weekend) - my body must've been absolutely craving this move to lowcarbing.

Official first week is 9lbs down Successfully negotiated a Christmas meal out with the office - had steak and green beans and a cheese board which was great.
