Default ADBB Terms of Service and Mission Statement

    TERMS OF SERVICE:

Considering the real-time nature of this bulletin board, it is impossible for us to review messages or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the contents of posted messages and are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message. The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of ADBB or any entity associated with this Bulletin Board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and will make every effort to do so within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use ADBB to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violates any law.

The ADBB does not and cannot review all messages posted and is not responsible for the content of any of these messages. We, at this Bulletin Board, reserve the right to delete or edit any message for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for the content of your messages.

For simplicity sake, we ask that you adhere to the following posting guidelines:

    1) Be kind and supportive. Flaming/trolling/abusive posts and/or spam, either in the open forums or in private messages, will not be tolerated on the boards. Posting links as "advertisements" to personal off-site blogs, journals, etc, must be approved by Administrators and is a privilege granted to Supporting Members only. Know that even if you don't leave personally identifiable information, your IP can and will be logged and you can be reported to your ISP and/or banned from posting. If a member is temporatily banned, any sock puppet accounts that are created to gain access to the ADBB will also be banned and the IP address will be reported. Creating a new account to bypass a suspension will result in a long suspension or a permanent ban.

    2) Try to post to the appropriate forums. This will enable our members to help and answer your questions in the best manner possible. It also helps newer members find the information since you may be asking a question they need an answer to as well!

    3) Threadjacking: Please stick to the topic of the original post, afterall, that's just good manners! Threadjacking from time to time happens, but it needs to be kept to a minimum out of respect for the OP (Original Poster). When the threadjack becomes the dominant portion of the conversation in a thread that was started for something completely different, ADBB mods/admin will either redirect the conversation back to the original topic or edit the threadjack out and start a new topic for it. If it is a continued issue, ADBB will address it with the offender privately and treat it as a TOS violation.

    4) The owner and moderators have the express right to remove or edit any post, for any reason, at any time. It is our policy to try to contact the poster of an offending message privately to let them know that their post was removed and why it was removed.

    5) Some posts may be deemed overly controversial for this board. We may choose not to allow certain posts that may cause flame wars or split the board. Topics such as race, religion and politics may be censored if it is not tightly coupled with the Atkins diet and/or are potentially offensive.

    6) All posts submitted on ADBB become the property of ADBB. Copying posts is not permitted without the permission of Administration and the original poster.

    7) Any member who violates the TOS will be warned by an Administrator or Moderator
. In general, members will be given the "three strikes you're out" opportunity here at ADBB. After your second warning any further violations of the TOS you will be removed from the board and the member list. Warnings can and will be issued Administrators and Moderators.

8.) Your signature should be related to your journey on Atkins. If your signature is found to be unrelated or controversial, you will be asked to remove it. If not done in a timely manner it will be removed for you. Please be advised that all links should be:
    a) Non commercial
    b) Relevant to the Atkins WOE/WOL
    c) Non competitive.
Signature links that are allowed/disallowed will be determined by the following:
    1) How active a Member is and what type of Membership they have at ADBB.
    2) Is the link useful for other members and/or ADBB.
    3) Is the signature link spam
    4) Intent of the posted link

    9) Our moderators and members are not medical experts. Advice given here is based solely on individual experience and study.

    10) Have fun! You have found a fantastic board with tons of great people. Take advantage of your find, dive in and enjoy!

    Default ADBB Mission Statement

The mission of the Atkins Diet Bulletin Board (ADBB) is to make a positive difference in the lives of those who have adopted the controlled carbohydrate lifestyle by providing information and support through a world leading international weight loss and open discussion forum, and by creating a nurturing educational environment that fosters effective communication and maximizes the potential of each member to achieve lifelong weight-loss and health.

Our underlying values are founded on the Atkins approach to weight loss from the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 DANDR), which we believe to be the safest and most nutritionally efficient method in existence.

Our guiding principles are to operate under the "Hard on ideas. Soft on people" philosophy, foster an international community open to anyone and welcoming of new ideas, be run by volunteers, and provide services free to our membership.
