Will the normal recipe taste okay if I cut out the sugar?

    Re: Deviled Eggs Recipe

no sugar in the Betty Crocker recipe I use but as you progress on your Atkins you will not even miss it and when you do fine a sweetened one you will thinkit is way too sweet cause your taste buds are going to get very sensetive to sweet taste when they haven't been bombarded all day with mega sugar stuff. If you need sweet pickles for your recipe MtOlive make a Splends sweetened one and you can get it on line of your store doesn't carry that brand.

    6 eggs hard boiled
    1/4 c mayo
1t mustard of choice (check label cause some fancy deli mustards have sugar in them
    2t vinegar
salt and pepper to taste hot pepper is optional if you are a whimp

    mash yolks with a fork
mix other ingredients together add yolks and mix well.
    fill yolk holes
    refigerate till ready to eat

I just have always used mayo, mustard and s&p...I must be really dull...lol
I sometimes like to add chopped celery or dill pickle or capers as well. I've never heard of using sugar in devilled eggs...?

I like to add dry chilli pepper and a little wostershire sauce in mine, besides S&P, mayo and mustard. Yummy I love deviled eggs.
        Everyone brags on the taste.

Well, I made it and it was yummy. A bit too mustard-y for my taste but I absolutely abhor mustard.

I ate out tonight and am so proud of myself. I had a huge steak and a side of broccoli. I swear it was the best meal ever. And most of all, I stayed within my carb limit!!!!!! Woohoo!

I'm a purest: egg, mayo and a little papkria on top

I have family that puts sugar in there along with mustard...its said that the sugar cuts the sour mustard taste some....maybe something related to a pince of sugar in green beans to cut the bitterness?

WTG Stacy, you stayed within your limit of carbs. Proud of you!

I used to put paprika on and in my deviled eggs, then one day I was out pf paprika and tried the dry chili powder and I loved it. I also like spicy foods.

I made a good tasting cauliflower dish a few days ago. I boiled the cauliflower til tender, drained. Then I mixed up mayo, mustard, wostershire sauce, dry onion flakes and chilli pwdr, S&P. Poured over the cauliflower and cooled in the refrig. Loved this too. So I bought 2 heads of cauliflower yesterday.

                    Sugar in deviled eggs? Yuck!

However, our family has always used sweet relish in it, so I guess that's about the same thing. I use dill relish in mine, along with salt/pepper and mayo - and if I have any on hand, a sprinkle of powdered mustard in the mix - then top with a sprinkle of paprika. Kind of like egg salad that isn't chopped up!

Funny story - many years ago, my middle sister volunteered to make deviled eggs for the first time, for a family dinner. They looked fine, but when everyone bit into them, their eyes started watering, gasps, grabbing for tea. Turns out, she didn't know it was paprika sprinkled on the eggs and thought it was red pepper, so she gave them a generous dousing! Talk about a shock!
