  • I make the WORST hardboiled eggs in the world!

    My eggs don't peel nice like they are supposed to. The egg gets all stuck to the shell as I peel it, and when I am done peeling, the egg looks like it's been thru a war-zone.

    What is the trick to getting my eggs to peel nice?

    ok make sure the temperature is even, and leave eggs boiling for 15 mins, also for best results i use chicken eggs . to peal it crack it open gently with a tea spoon until there is a small crack, then commense with peal the wrest of the shell of with your thumb and finger .

      Two things. The older an egg the easier it is to peel. Fresh eggs have a very small air pocket and stick to the shell.
      This is how I learned to make t he best eggs.
      Place eggs in pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil then turn off heat and cover for 10 mins. Peel right away while running cold water over them

        I know HOW to peel an egg Doh!

        It's the egg sticking to the shell part I don't know how to fix...
        So to get the egg to quit sticking to the shell, I need to keep the temperature even?
        Currently, when done boiling, I put my eggs in icy cold water (so I can cool it and eat it quicker - yum!). You think I should just put them in warm water? Or leave them out in the air maybe?

          No you are right it is the cold water. But I find if I am peeling under the running water it helps. But the key really is the age of the eggs.

                Are you using Omega-3 eggs? I find they are an abosolute nighmare to peel, though I have no idea why. I buy regular eggs for boiling, and use Omega 3 for anything else.

                  It's definitely the cold water that helps the peeling process. Cooling immediately after boiling.

                    It's all to do with the age of the egg, I'm positive.
                    One thing I've tried is to bring it to a boil, let it simmer for 3 minutes, turn it off, remove from heat and before you leave them to cool, give them a knock with a spoon to crack the shell.
                    If you've got easy to peel eggs in there it'll make it even easier.

                      I tried everything and never could consistently make and peel good boiled eggs. My daughters got me an egg cooker for Mother's Day and it's the best! The eggs are always cooked perfectly and always very easy to peel. Here's the one I have, but there are lots of kinds:

                        I use an egg boiler then cool in iced water.
                        Then to peel them I slam the egg on the worktop and roll it, while pressing it down. This results in the shell falling in two halfs that peel off easily

                          I got so sick of trying tips that were given to me. It seemed that there was no way that worked every time. My mother bought me a Cuisinart egg cooker for Christmas and I love it. No problems any more.

                            For me, it has to do with the eggs themselves. Some times the shells come right off, others, the shell sticks and it all ends up being egg salad.
                            I cook them the same way every time. I buy two containers of eggs, one to scramble and for recipes, the other to sit and boil later.
                            I cook them for 22 minutes on med high heat. I then immediately put them in the sink, drain the hot water, fill with cold, then load it with ice cubes.
                            Put in fridge when cool and peel when ready to eat, otherwise they stay longer with peels on.
                            I just made some the other day, and so far, 4 out of the 6 I peeled stuck real bad. The other two were easier. It's the membranes you're dealing with. If that air pocket doesn't get under the membranes, its like cellophane and no matter how careful you are, it will peel the white up with it.
                            So this pot of 18 eggs will be all egg salad, and hopefully my next batch will be used for devilled eggs and cut up in my salad.

                              I hard boil them. Pour the hot water out, run cold water over them for a second or two and then peel them. Its kinda hot, but the shells come right off. (just be careful you don't burn yourself!)
