  • Question ~ Counted 22 Carbs :(

    I have been very strict about counting carbs and after several days, I found out that I actually consumed about 22. IT was a real bummer b/c it was not on any bad food per se, but too many fresh veggies.

    Should I re-start since I was not under 20???

    Any input would be appreciated.

    I'd just carry on. Two carbs won't impact that much...unless of course those two extra carbs become a regular thing.

    Do you use Fitday? Very useful for keeping a tally on your carbs and everything else.
    Hang in there and the pounds will melt away.

      no we don't restart our 14 day induction if we have a problem. You just keep going and know your total pounds lost in that time frame might not be accurate for the charts in chapters 13 and 14. Induction is 14 days to show you WOW lookie how great Atkins works no hunger eating yummy foods and pounds and inches vanish woo hoo day 15 posts. you are starting to practice your life long WOE and to lay the foundation for your house of Atkins eating. Just keep going you have learned a valuble lesson about knowing the carb count before it goes in your mouth and keeping a running total daily so you know before you sit down at the end of the day with your counter whewre you stand. try to budget so many carbs per meal amd so many per snack so you can have carbs for dinner too.

      The only reason to go back would be if you were off Atkins eating for a long period of time.

        Thank you Sally and 2Big, Dr. A seemed to be silent on the issue during induction, he probably did not want to allow room for failure/sllight cheating b/c it could become a habit.

        I am finding out real fast that I probably should not have any carbs until the afternoon b/c they set off mini cravings.

          actually I'd suspect the carb food not the time of day. We are supposed to have some carbs from the veggies some protein and some fat at every meal. It doesn't look signicant right now but when you move to OWL the bolus of no carb AM and carby PM eating of carbs will become a significant blood sugar swing.

          Even if the source of your carbs ar e Atkins legal if they trigger cravings in you then they aren't legal for you. Celery sets me off so i avoid it.
          Make sure youare having a fat with any carbs you have. Dr Atkins posted that in the OWL section of DANDR but he assumed you'd read the whole book before you started his plan.

            Thanks again, 2Big you raise a very good point that I forgot.

            Wow, celery sets you off, this is very interesting. I would never think such a vege could do that, but as DR. A stressed, we have to pay attention to our bodies b/c everyone is different.

            And Dr. A doesn't just assume we've read the book through, he insists on it! Just thanks for the reminder, it really helps to have experienced & helpful people like you on the board to help the newbies along...

              I am sure you are not the only person who has eaten two carbs over during induction ...cut yourself some slack and enjoy this journey it is a good one

                Tomorrow is a new day and begins at 0 carbs. You've got the rest of your life to get this right.

                That 1 carb is nothing!
