  • Calories Burnt Challenge.......

    This it where I would like you all to post your figures.

    State the day of the excercise, the piece of equipment you used and also the amount of calories burnt.

    There is no need to count calories. The Atkins Nutritional Approach counts grams of carbohydrates instead of calories. <snip>

    Although there is no need to count calories, they do matter. Gaining weight results from taking inmore calories than you expend through exercise, thermogenesis (the body's own heat production) and other metabolic functions. Research has shown that on a controlled carbohydrate program, more calories are burned than in a low-fat/high carb diet, so there is a certain metabolic advantage to the controlled carb approach. But understand that this does not give you license to gorge.

    8/1/06 Walking Outdoors and on the treadmill - Calories Expended - 575 (as measured by Polar Heart Rate Monitor)

    A quick question too, Rich, would you like us to wait until all exercise is completed for the day before we post results or as each period of exercise is completed? I walk every morning, but then I usually either do water aerobics, play tennis, golf, and/or ride my bike later in the day. Thanks!

        60 minutes on elliptical machine. Calories burned = 600

          Tuesday Warm up on the stationary bike = 50 calories
          25 minutes on the eliptical trainer = 386 calories

          Followed by some weight training, calories not counted there.

              I gave blood at lunch and then did a light 30 minutes on elliptical. Calories per machine were 218.

                  Since it was so HOT here today, I decided to take part in a water aerobics class this morning. I burned 405 calories for the hour.

                    August 1, one-hour swing dancing class, 343 calories
                    No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

                        Btw, how do you know how many calories you burn off whilst doing the water aerobics?

                            Good Morning!

                            Went on a looooooong walk outdoors this morning. Burned 611 calories per Polar HRM.

                            As to the water aerobics question... http://www.self.com/health/activity/...water_aerobics
                            is the link I used. Once there you put in your weight and the duration of exercise and it calculates it for you!
