    Default Seroquel - atypical antipsychotics

Just wondering if anyone else is on Seroquel and is dealing with the constant cravings for carbs as a result. I would ask to change medications but Seroquel is the only med that has every really worked well for my bipolar disorder.

Anyone else have issues with atypical antipsychotics?

Yes, I am BiPolar and have been on Seroquel for years, I works very well for me and I don't want to go off it. The thought of running out of it scares me as I did once before and it was not a good thing.

I have gained many pounds on Seroquel. I had lost 75 pounds with Atkins in the past and then it crept back. I crave sugar so bad it is like a sickness. I do blame the seroquel for some but not all of it. I take 900 mg.

I also take several other meds: Topamx, lamictal, and Trileptal.

I'm taking lamictal for Bipolar II and waiting to see how the S/E go (or come). I've only been on it 3 weeks now. I'm noticing a huge improovement already - but concerned with possible weight gain.

I take Seroquel, Lamictal, Trileptal and Topamax. It is really easy to gain weight on these, except poor Topamax which you are supposed to lose weight on but it has no chance of doing that with all the weight gaining ones I take along with it. I read somewhere that if you take seroquel, there is a huge urge to stand at the kitchen counter and pour sugar into your mouth. Yes, I have eaten plain sugar and my dark chocolate cravings are out of this world. These meds really F you up. Oh, and I take 1,200 of Seroquel, not 900. I forgot about the one Seroquel XR 300 mg that I take a 7pm.

The pharmacy screwed up at the end of last week and I went 2 nights without my Seroquel. So no sleep for 2 nights. It is horrible. That has happened before. Not good to run out of an anti-psychotic.

I'm checking back in. I am now on Geodon, Trileptal and Pristique and haven't had any problems with weight. I was on Wellbutrin and it made me want to stand around and eat. But it's not the med itself, it's a change in behavior. I was also have more anxiety and anger on it - so not the right drug for me.
