Default Jar Vinaigrette for your salads

I love these. I have all kinds of jars around with different vinaigrettes in them. the different taste depends on the type of vinegar you choose
    I like
    Basic white vinegar
    Red whine vinegar
Apple cider vinegar (my current favourite - I love it with a salad of greens)

    0.5 cup olive oil
    0.25 cup vinegar
other tastes (salt, pepper, garlic herbs - your choice)

Start with the vinegar and any herbs & spices you want in a jar. Pour in one tablespoon of oil. Screw lid back on jar and shake vigorously. Continue pouring in oil and shaking until half the oil has been integrated. Continue by pouring two or three tablespoons at a time.

You can also make this in your blender. Start with vinegar and tastes and slowly dribble in oil while the blender is going on low.

    You take it right
Except balsamic vinegar - it very often has added sugar to it.

Yum, Liv! Why people buy bottled dressings of any kind is beyond me. Salad dressings are so easy and so inexpensive.

Something I learned just this evening as I was packing my lunch before work - I usually use Rice Vinegar with oil - Has a great taste! Well, I found out why.... 5g Sugar / Tablespoon!!!!! That was shocking to me. I just assumed vinegars were the same, but I learned, and luckily, right before boot camp!

    Nice label reading
5g of added sugar? That is quite a bit for a table spoon
Balsamic vinegar has added sugar (except the expensive kind) and should be avoided but normal red wine vinegar should be fine. I use a lot of red wine vinegar.
I also use rice vinegar and many brands have sugar so yes reading labels is good

Love the idea of making my own salad dressings, going to start making some as I am getting a bit tired of mayonnaise every day!
