Can you return the salad mayo? I agree. It's horrible and probably has all kinds of ingredients we're not allowed.

I remember your having said that British Hellmann's mayo doesn't contain soybean oil. Lucky you. I haven't written to Hellmann's yet, but I shall. I'll let them know that I don't want to have to make my own mayo and to please show some mercy and stop putting soybean oil into their mayo. Consumers are not happy.

What's in the salad mayo? I googled it and couldn't find anything.

    Maybe it's like Miracle Whip?

Admittedly, I've never looked at miracle whip's ingredients either.

Miracle Whip has a LOT of high fructose corn syrup. I don't eat anything that contains HFCS--it goes directly to your liver and does a number on it--number one cause of fatty liver disease. Salad dressings are a sweeter version of mayonnaise.

Mum will eat the salad mayo, no worries. I hates waste. I've not been eating mayo at all come to think of it. I'd rather have olive oil on my lettuce.

Tonight I have the mayo sachets provided in bingo. I shall check out the ingredients of those now too.
On the salad mayo jar...which just makes me realise any kind of packaging = *****
ingredients - water, soya oil, white wine vinegar, WHEAT starch, pasteurised free range EGG yolk, sugar, salt, glucose syrup powder, modified maize starch, thickeners (locust bean gum, guar gum), preservatives (sorbic acid), colour (carotenes), flavourings.

We are going to become label-reading champions! When at the fish market yesterday--I bought a little red snapper, flounder, and cod, determined to eat fish for two days and get my weight back to where it was--I almost bought a new seafood seasoning but noticed that corn starch was in the ingredients. No go. So half the red snapper is downstairs right now, frying lightly in peanut oil. Great breakfast that'll remind me of my granny, sweetest woman I've ever known.
