Default Hungry for Hashbrowns? Try these...

Peel and shred turnips, just like you would potatoes .. Add some fresh garlic, lots of salt and pepper, and fry them up in a stick of butter ... I challenge you to tell the difference between hash brown potatoes and hash brown turnips! AWESOME! Lots of great fiber and very low carb!

I LOVE 'EM!

Betty

Are your soggy? I made them the other day and they were soggy. They did taste like potatoes though, I just missed the crispy crunch.

I am trying to learn how to cook some interesting new dishes ,a new one each week, because I was getting tired of my menu. I made this on Sunday, but I must have done something wrong...they tasted like mushy, buttery, turnips. Maybe the pan wasn't hot enough to make them crunchy.

Oh well, a cook I am not! Any suggestions to make them better, anyone?

You have to squeeze all liquid out of the turnips. And your oil needs to be darn tootin' hot before you add the turnips

Hope that helps!

Yes, definitely squeeze all the water out. Then squeeze again. I dried mine thoroughly between paper towel layers before putting them in the pan. Okay, a little more effort, but they won't be soggy.
