Geez, I am not sure? I got a big jar of the protein powder at Walmart for 8 bucks, and it lasts forever. Maybe Killerbombshell will have some ideas. sorry!

I'm so glad you guys like this! I made this for my family over Easter and they thought I should bag it and sell it. I'm not sure how difficult it is to get into the flax seed cereal business, but if Kashi can do it why not me?

Anyway--the vanilla whey protein is really helpful both in terms of the consistency and also in watering down the nutty taste of the flax. It won't TASTE like vanilla, but it will be a little sweeter. Whey protein is a really really versatile ingredient; I understand the concern about cost, but I promise you you'll use it.

All right, I'll go round up some protein powder... I"ve seen a few recipes that use it anyway. It'll be fun to experiment with something new.

Y-U-M-M-Y!!!!!! Now that I have "cereal" I can do this plan forever!!!!!! Haha! Question, though! If I make this recipe and split it into thirds for the day, how many carbs is that? I read a few posts down below and I think it said 12.5? I've found that I'm eating about 2/3 of the recipe - 1/3 for breakfast and 1/3 for a snack. Is it bad that I'm eating 2/3 of the recipe during the day?

Thanks for making my plan even easier!!! I don't know what I'd do without this board!

Hi there - I tried this today and messed something up... After the cookie came out of the microwave, it was done - and crumbled easily. (tasted like something to put on top of a cake!) So, I put it in a bowl, added the mixed cream and water and immediately had ...... MUSH. Malt o'meal or something like it.

I was hoping for cereal (a little bit of a chew or crunch) so maybe I've done something wrong or I misunderstood. Could you help?

Thanks!
Kacey

Kacey, I got the same thing the first time I made it. With some adjustments and a lot of practice I've been able to get it right! You might want to try this:

Substitute liquid splenda for some of the granular -- not all of it, though, or it gets too chewy

If that doesn't work, spread it a little thicker when you microwave it. (I've also determined that this makes it less likely that I'll break the plate. Yes, I've broken three supposedly microwave-safe plates with this recipe -- I guess it concentrates the microwave's heat and I have a really powerful microwave.)

If that doesn't work, microwave it for a shorter period of time. I do about 1 and a half minutes.

Hope that helps!

do it on parchment paper you can buy in the grocery store. just cut out a small square and have at it.

the whey PP is the glue if you are in OWL you gane grind up some almonds and make nut flour instead but it will be courser in texture and lack the glued togetherness of the whey PP.

1.5 tablespoons melted butter

Spread out about a quarter to a half inch thick on a piece of wax paper/saran wrap and microwave for about 2 minutes or until butter no longer visibly bubbles. It will not be crunchy but instead crumbly. Carefully spoon/scrape into a bowl and serve with heavy cream (cut cream with water if you prefer). This is INCREDIBLY filling, so while it looks like a little it really blows up in your stomach. It really tastes like cereal without any of the pork rinds business involved.
Thanks! I may give this a shot for the weekend. I'll let you know.

Didn't you have a great looking brownie recipe somewhere?...Hum...?
