Default Flax Cereal (No Pork Rinds Involved!)

This is my variation on a flax cookie recipe I enjoyed.

2 heaping tablespoons flax
2 tablespoons Vanilla whey protein powder
1.5 tablespoons melted butter
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon Splenda

Mix the dry ingredients, bind with melted butter. Add pinches of flax if the recipe looks too wet. Spread out about a quarter to a half inch thick on a piece of wax paper/saran wrap and microwave for about 2 minutes or until butter no longer visibly bubbles. It will not be crunchy but instead crumbly. Carefully spoon/scrape into a bowl and serve with heavy cream (cut cream with water if you prefer). This is INCREDIBLY filling, so while it looks like a little it really blows up in your stomach. It really tastes like cereal without any of the pork rinds business involved.

Is this one serving? And have you figured out the carb count? I would like to try it if its not too high for still doing induction.

Oh, I want to try this too. I only have flax seeds, can I grind them in my blender? Would it be two tablespoons seeds ground in the blender?

What do you use the seeds for? I always buy the ground stuff. Either way, they MIGHT work in a blender but I can't even get my blender to mash up cauliflower well. I think most people here say coffee grinder works.

Ok, I got a coffee grinder, ground the seeds (worked great by the way) and made this! A total hit!! This is so yummy!!! I love it, thank you so much for sharing with us. Everyone should try this, it reminds me of Cracklin Oat Bran. That used to be my favorite cereal. Thanks so much!!!!

Ok, I plugged it into Fitday, and I got 12.19 carbs, 7.82 fiber, for a net carb total of 4.37. I would totally eat this on Induction, and it will help with any 'bathroom troubles' that might be going on. Great job, Killerbombshell!!!! You rock!!!!!!!

Its really really good! I put one tablespoon heavy cream on mine (50 calories, no carbs). It is so filling, I was really surprised. I would drink a big glass of water with this, because of the flax.

I'm really thinking of making this! One question, though: any substitutions I could make for the vanilla whey protein powder? I'm thinking of going to the health food store and buying some ground flax and was trying to figure out if I could get away with buying just one extra item... if there are no good substitutions, I guess I can find a way to buy the protein powder...

Any way you look at it, this sounds delish and very... useful...
