    Default Hello from the UK

    Afternoon all,

I'm just popping by to introduce myself - I'm Sarah from snowy Coventry, UK.
This will be my second time with Atkins (the first time was in 2008 - I lost 28lb in 6 months) and I'm currently on day 5 of Induction. I haven't seen a weight loss on the scale yet but loosing inches (or fractions of!) so I know it's working.
I'm finding it hard to find a bit of variety in my meals at the moment and sticking with what I know works, or at least did do the last time.

I'm starting Atkins now because I had a son 1 year ago and although I have lost 21lbs watching what I was eating it's no longer working for me and I was literally having to starve myself to get any result on the scales - not good. I enjoyed doing Atkins before but stopped doing it when I hit a plateau, however, I didn't regain any weight until my pregnancy.

Looking forward to getting to know people better and to share hints, tips and recipes.

    Sarah x

    Hi Sarah!

Welcome to our international ADBB family.

It is good to have another member from this side of the pond climb on board.

We haven't yet seen any snow here "down south" so maybe this time we might miss out on it.

Greetings from rainy Seattle! Have you had a chance to check out the recipe section on this board? There are a lot of good ones/ideas there - they really helped me add variety to my meals.

Welcome, Sarah! Good luck with your journey & congrats on the little one! I'm still quite the newbie but I know one website that has been a lifesaver is Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - Home . Anything you might be craving, she has a recipe for!

Hi, and welcome from non-snowy New England--so you have our snow, eh? (That's okay--you can keep it!)

I would imagine that if you were already eating pretty healthy while losing post-baby weight, you might not have a lot of water weight to lose...on the bright side, that means you'll go straight to losing the "fat".

I'm really fortunate in that I don't get bored with eating the same things quite often, so I don't look for much variety. Different seasonings can help, though; for example, various spices and herbs mixed in with ground beef takes us in an italian direction some nights, while we go more for mexican flavorings other times. I tend to stick with very simple recipes and basic meals, as the carb counting is simpler that way--my life is hectic enough already!--though we do try out new things on the weekends.

Wishing you well, and glad you're not starving yourself!

Hey! Good to see someone else from the UK here! Currently Stoke is pretty snowy too although we too are starting to thaw out slightly now.

There are plenty of ways that you can stop yourself from getting bored, and loads of different ways of preparing your meals, however, it does require creativity on times! The thing that keeping me going at the moment is scrambling some eggs in a pan and mixing in some onion, bacon and cheese or sometimes I substitute the bacon for a can of tuna. Great for breakfast and a little bit different. If you're stuck for ideas there is a recipe forum you can browse through, or just say what you have in the house and see what people come up with!

Thanks for the recipe idea, I had scrambled eggs with bacon and cheese this morning - very moreish!
However, I've discovered I've been having too many veggies, so I'm going back to the drawing board with that one. I'm having to get used to having fewer veg which feels odd as I'm used to having a plate full with only a little bit of meat etc. I haven't been drastically over and still under 20 carbs but I want to get it right from the start.
I'm sure I'll get to grips with things again soon. I will certainly have a good look at the recipe thread and links I've been given.

I'm not getting much support in real life. My OH likes counting calories and I work with nurses who seem to think what I'm doing is going to compromise my health and well being no matter how much I try and explain to them.

    Thanks again
