Default FIrst Day of induction

Hello everyone. I agree with the other newbie. This seems like a great community to be a part of. I am in the first stage of the Atkins diet an comppletely not used to eating like this. I hope this works.. I guess I am worried about slipping up and gaining additional pounds. What happens if I slip up? I want tto lose 50 pounds. I have no clothes to wear and am thoroughly tired of being this heavy. Thank you folks. You are so sweet to answer and care for other people the way you do. I tried to upload a picture. I hope it works. It took me forever to figure out how to even post! Love and peace to you all. Flo

Hi Flo,

Many of us do slip up, cheat, binge, and regret it. It HAPPENS.
DANDR has a recovery program for when you do binge ie taking chromium or L-glutamine - this is to mainly stop massive cravings you will have afterwards.

However, the main thing is to not sit there and feel guilty, bad, regret, whatever, because you will just get more depressed and that could lead to another bout of emotional eating.

Just learn from it, and move on. Chances are, after you've slipped up, the guilt will stop you from cheating again, if not, then stop you from cheating on the same food.

If you are on Induction the first 2 weeks, don't restart, just keep going as part of the 14 days.

Welcome to the board, Flo!

You're right this is an amazing community. You'll get all the motivation and support that you could possibly need, right here.

This diet doesn't need as much willpower as some other diets, but it does still require some. And the amount of willpower required diminishes as the cravings just go away. Not to say temptations go away, but you will find that it gets easier to say no to things.

One good tip I have seen around here before: Don't say, "I can't eat that", say "I choose NOT to eat that". A very subtle but huge difference.

Good luck!

Thank you guys for responding. I have no eggs!! Oh my goodness, what am I going to eat! One of the things I am wondering what to do is what to eat. Did you folks follow the 2 week diet plan that the atkins site gives for the induction period? I think I AM going to take tha list and do my grocfery shopping around that. At least to get started.

JRoche!! Thanks for the tip on the verbage. Those "little" things do make a difference; case in point- my words of affirmation at the end of signature on these posts- I am Joy in motion I am joy in action Joy is what I am and Joy is what I give. For this I will Keep it Moving!
When I say thes things it gets me up!!
Tickle Tussle! Thank you for the advice on the slipping up. I have a problem relaizing sometimes that I am not the only one who does these thigs; i.e., mess it all up!! Gotta get back on the bus! RIght
Thank you both for replying; it made a difference to me today! Love and Peace To you both. Flo

Hey Flo, the 2-week Induction menu plan on the Atkins website apparently has foods like low-carb bread/muffins. I think some of us are rather surprised about this, especially since breads are a definitely no-no during the first 2 weeks on Atkins, and the whole point of Induction is to break our cravings/addictions to sugars, breads, pastas, potatoes and starches. Some of us were wondering if perhaps Atkins is trying to promote their own products and therefore included their products onto the Induction menu plan.

My recommendation is to modify the plans so that it enables you to stick to the Acceptable Foods list. It'll be the safest that way and ensures better results for you in the long-term :yes

I remember when I first began Atkins ... wondering if it would really work. Well, I've been doing this WOE for over a year now, and I can tell you it definitely does work. The secret to doing this weight loss plan is to read the book and do exactly what Dr. Atkins advised you to do. Don't change the plan to fit your way of living. Change your way of living to fit the plan.
Best wishes to you and keep posting your progress so we can celebrate your weight loss with you!!

Hi Flo, doing a "Post Reply" means your reply just appears at the bottom of all the posts, but if you're talking about referring to a person's quote so you can reply to that (like I've done with you above) - you just hit the "quote" button on the top right corner of the post of the person you want to quote. The "quote" button appears on the top right corner of each of our posts to you.

Hope that's the answer you were looking for

Cheers.
