Hello Everyone!

My name is Johnny and I live in Missoula, Montana and have been here for 36yrs... I just recently stopped working as of March 28th of this year(36 yrs in a lumber mill) due to heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and morbid obseity. I am 57 yrs old....I am currently filing SS disability...

My employer recommend I apply and backing me up and my doctor said I was not to work anymore. I am 5' 11" tall and weight 376lbs and on a coarse to kill myself if I do not do something soon...

I am considering the Atkins Diet plan and like to know what you all think...I am concerned because of heart disease and being a diabetic. My twin brother is on the plan and he loves it and is down to 203.5 lbs now.

I really have an over eating disease and need support...thank you for reading. Johnny :help

Johnny, welcome to the board, and I'm so glad you found us. Posts like yours terrify me to a point and I hope you came here soon enough.

First off start Atkin's and slam on the brakes on that runaway train to deathville you are on. I was up to 348 (at 36 yrs old) and heading in the same direction. Read the book, and come here often, the people here will inspire you beyond words. Two that leap to mind right away are papajack and bowulf. Papajack is in his 60's and went from over over 400 to 270's and bowulf has gone from over 400 to 235. This can be done several people here used to be TypeII diabetics. Note the words "USED TO BE".

Take control of you life and do this, you have so much life left to live.

Also have your doctor do your blood chemistries before you start, then do them in again in 3 months on the plan, you will be pleasantly surprised.

You can do this! Ane everyone here is pulling for you.

Good luck!

Edited to add: How are these pics for motivation? Proof positive that it can be done.
