Hi Nata,

No, I haven't been on Atkins in Denmark - I'm living in Australia but my fiance is Danish and I have been to DK a few times. My in-laws are coming over this Christmas and I am hoping I'll have reached GW by then, because I really cannot see myself eating any of my mother-in-law's cooking if I'm still trying to lose - she cooks everything in butter and put sugar/flour in just about everything! - brunkartoffler, frikadeller, hakkebøf, brunsovs, duck with prunes - like I mean everything!

As for the last few kgs - I think you've got the wrong end of the stick it becomes much harder to lose weight when you have less to lose ie the closer you are to goal, the harder it is! One Canadian Atkineer told me it took her 10 months to lose the last 10lbs (5kg)!

And yes, so many foods are preserved or smoked in DK AND I was surprised to find how expensive fresh veg & fruits cost to buy! Seems like the Danes have a fondness for many cured meats served over rye bread, topped with mayonnaise, remoulade or "sky", and all the wienerbrød! :no, it is going to be difficult for you.

HOWEVER like you said, the good side of DK is there are fantastic cheeses there and creams so rich you could die for

Yes pretty much, but get the book, it'll explain EVERYTHING you need to know and ADBB answers any questions you aren't clear on

About the last kgs -- you are 100% right. But when it comes to choosing the way to lose them forever -- atkins is the best. ( according to many of them who succeded and who I met online, so... maybe I'm mistaking ensive ).

When I came to Denmark I was very surprized to see how expensive the gevetables and fruits are and how cheap chocolate and sweet things. It's the opposite in Belarus -- meat and veggies are cheaper than some sweets... :geek

:yes I do agree Nata that Atkins is the best and I am very likely to still eat the Atkins way once I reach goal weight. Even now, I just can't imagine going back to the way I used to eat and even when i do occasionally cheat, there's no way I've ever gone back to the amounts I used to eat. Somehow Atkins changes you ... physically and tastebuds - forever.

I know DK gets so many of its fruits and veg from Spain, so I can't understand why they are so expensive. For some reason, most of the veggies I find are bottled (like the red cabbage) and they are overcooked and soggy! Sweets are really cheap because one of DK's biggest produce is sugar beets, so sugar is produced in abundance unfortunately.

I hope it won't be too expensive for you to keep up with all your fruits and veggies on Atkins

It's funny they say that Atkins is an expensive diet: first -- meat is expensive, then -- you have to change your wardrobe

OMG!!! Yes, meat costs and arm and a leg in Denmark! (oops excuse the pun)

I can't believe how expensive good beef and lamb are - my fiance tells me DK exports most of their good meat.

Nata, have you considered starting up a journal? I would love to hear how you're travelling with Atkins, so why not join us at the Journal & Weigh-ins forum?
