Nata is on a distinguished road
Default Hello! My name is Nata :)

Hello everyone! I am very happy I have found this forum -- there's loads of information and support here! My name is Nata, I'm originally from Belarus (Eastern Europe), but moved to Danmark a couple of years ago. When I came here I quitted smoking and began eating instead ) But I thought ( and still do think) that it's better to have some extra weight than to smoke all the time. It was quite easy to quit smoking because there are many sweet things here in Danmark, that I could put into mouth and forget about a cigarette. And so I gained 10 kg ( about 22 lbs). There would not be a problem if I could just limit my intake of chokolate ans cookies, but I felt really really dependent on them and it scared me! Atkins diet is a really good way to get rid of cravings and also to reduce portion size I've never been on any diet before ... and I actually won't -- I experience atkins diet as a way to eating healthier and get food "independence"

I am 62 kg now ( 136,69 lbs)
my goal is 54 kg ( 119,05 lbs)
(I need 17,64 lbs off!)

Hejsa Nata!

I think it's going to be difficult going low-carb in DK - so many delicious sweets (my fave is kransekage) and a lot of the foods have sugar, high carbs and flours in them (like frikadeller, guleærter, grønlangkål, lagkage, bixemad) :yummy
STILL there are Danes who do Atkins successfully!

I hope you do lose the 8kg you are striving for - I am 63-65kg at the moment, also 5'5 and my goal is the same as yours. I am finding it difficult to lose these last kg - very slow. But age is on your side for you! You are still young (not like us oldies whose metabolism slow down as we get older *hehe*) You do look pretty good in your photo though

Cheers

it is already difficult! mostly because it impossible to find easy meat solutions! everything that is easy to buy ( slices of meat that are supposed to be used in sandwiches) is so salty ( from 2,2 % salt up to 3,6%!!! :anger ) that I have to drink water all the time not to kill my kidneys... :yes
But there's lots of tasty cheese and cheap chicken

tickletussler! have you been on atkins in Danmark?

Hello Nata

Welcome to the ADBB website. Everyone here is fantastic for supporting each other as we lose weight and get healthy. There is information in the forums for everyone. If you haven't read the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002, that is the book that we base our way of eating on. It will answer lots of questions you may have.

Best wishes and please keep us posted on your progress. Congratulations on quitting smoking too. I know how hard that is to do also!!

I have just ordered this book at the library so I'll definitely read it this week. As far as I am concerned after 14-days induction I just have to start to add 5 more grams carbohydrates every week until I reach the point where my bodyweight doesn't change anymore and go on eating this way all my life... :tweety am I right?
