| Hello Teachergirl, I am a college professor so I feel your pain about stress eating at certain times of the year! I have been on induction for six weeks now and I am doing fine. I think it is an individual choice as to when you move up the rungs. However, there is a whole thread on here for people on extended induction (lots to lose). So, the decision is yours to make. Welcome to the family! Deb Quote:

| I believe I've read that it's okay to stay on induction for up to six months. Don't quote me on that though

| Before I had my son I was on atkins for 1 1/2 yrs and lost 120 lbs. I got so use to only eating 20 or less carbs thats what I did the entire time. I had no adverse health problems from it. Actually it kept my blood pressure in check and kept my cycle regular thats how I ended up pregnant. So if you ask me I say stay on induction as long as you would like. But I am not a doctor. Good Luck Char |

| Reread your Chapter 13, especially when your thinking about moving up to OWL. You can safely stay on induction a very long time, as long as you follow the plan, eating good foods, not frankenfoods, taking your vitamins/minerals, drinking your water you'll be okay. But sometimes you just need to move up and add things to your diet just because your getting plain bored with the food choices and want to have nuts or fruit or etc.

| The actual DANDR quote is Induction is safe for "over six months." I personally did Induction for over one year. It simply matched what I liked to eat, never felt restrained in my diet, and saw great progress. My annual physical after that year was excellent, especially my cholesterol. How long you stay on Induction is a personal decision, but just be sure you hit the OWL rungs you want to hit before you hit your goal and maintenance. My only recommendation is to make sure you are getting your vitamins in every day, and eating your 3 cups of veggies (not solely lettuce either). Other than that do it as long as you want too (minus 10 pounds from goal).

| I was on extended induction for 5 months and lost 50 lbs during that time. Then I decided that I wanted to add more foods, especially fruits during the summer, so I went on OWL, and that is where I still am, for another 15 lbs, and then moving on to maintenance for the last stretch. |
