Arrow Not new, but starting over

Hi,
I am not new here, but I have not visited in a LONG time! I am a 24 year old female in NC and I am interested in starting Atkins again. For some reason I can't seem to get motivated??? So I am wondering if anyone out there can help me. What motivated you to kick start your diet? I KNOW, I need to do it, but I just can't get into the swing of things. So I am guessing that means I am lazy! LOL. Any advice, or encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

LBHot,

Well, I think you have to ask yourself what your goals are and how you plan to achieve them. I mean, seriously think about why you want to lose weight. Sit down and write out your goals and then list some reasons why you want to lose the extra weight. Post that list where you can see it all the time, make a copy to pack around with you and read it over and over and over. All the things that you list will be your inspiration.

You have to want it in your head and in your heart and only you will know when that happens.

I am doing this mainly to get off my diabetes meds so I can get preggers and have a little one who is healthy and so I can be a good example of a healthy person for my little one. Those are my reasons and I remind myself of them every day.

Once you have your goals and your reasons, then jump on down to the journal section and record your thoughts. Then come to your journal every day and review where you have been and where you are going. You will see yourself having a mind and body transformation and you will love it so much, you will be more inspired to continue.

If you need inspiration now, then jump on down to the journals section and read some of the amazing battles that have been won by the people on this board. You will be amazed!

Good luck to you and I look forward to getting to know more about you!

Deb

Thanks everyone! I feel better already. I didn't realize there was a "second time around" forum, until after I posted here. Ooops! Oh well again thanks for all the support and I am looking forward to hanging out here.

For BABYDREAMER, I want to lose weight for the obvious reasons. I want to look better, and feel better. I guess I am vain, but I really want to look GOOD. I don't look bad now,but I am just not happy with myself and it's starting to affect my relationships with people, expecially those of the opposite sex. More importantly, there are things that run in my family,so I am basically at risk for everything! I am a minority female, my grandmother died of breast cancer, father died of cancer, heart disease on both sides of the family, and my grand mother also had diabetes. I feel like I am too knowledgable, and intelligent to ignore these things. I know what to do, but i just need to do it. So those are my reasons. The only thing that bothers me about atkins, is maintaining after losing. But I guess I will worry about that later. first things first. Thanks again!

welcome back. motivation has to come from within and you have lots of reasons why now you have to figure out some reason why you need to do Atkins more then you need to eat those high carb foods and then you will have your motivation to stick. in the mean time you can practice carb harn reduction by jumping back on the low carb eating plan with the very next bite should you decide you needed the high carb food. So you will be needing the high carb foods less and less and your low carb eating wil be by rote on you will not even reaolize it.

happy low carbing.

La Donna,

I have a myriad of health issues on both sides of my family as well so I know what you are talking about there. It is scary sometimes. I think the key to maintaining will be keeping BEFORE pictures on the fridge and keeping up the exercise all our lives. We can do it...we can give those genes a run for their money! Girl Power!
