Thumbs up Totally by accident, I started Atkins and this Forum today!

I was on the web this morning looking for a good way to lose some pounds and came across this forum.
I've read low-carb forums before, but this one seemed to have a lot of dedicated members and staff and inspired me to start Atkins this morning. I thought about waiting till Monday morning and do a "clean induction", but other than a couple cups of coffee, why waste a day. Tomorrow morning I"ll kill the coffee and the aspartame (love Diet Snapple iced teas). I bought an Atkins book several years ago and it just happened to be the DANDR 2002 version which this forum recommends (karma?).

I've been exercising (BB - Power 90) the last couple weeks and eating between 1500-1800 calories, but haven't made any progress whatsover. I think I'm one of those people whose metabolism doesn't budge just by cutting calories.

I made it thru today without any sign of "Induction Flu" except for a little sluggishness.

I weighed in at 220 (Goal 160), male, 5'8", 47yrs, took my measurements and starting to read the book.

I'll keep checking in and try to contribute to the forum as I progress.

Thanks for the welcome and I'm sorry I haven't been back, got off to a bad start and restarted March 13th.

I weighed in on March 13th at 223, this morning March 23rd, I weighed 213. I only had one really bad headache on the 3rd day, but have felt really good. My energy level has gone thru the roof. I get up anywhere from 5:30 am to 6:30 am naturally and have tremendous energy till I go to bed at around 10-10:30.

I don't have any cravings for carbs or late night snacking at all. Like it's been said many times on this forum, the key to sucesss is drinking tons of water and making sure you eat the vegetables. I buy several gallons of steam distilled water and drink at least 2/3 to 3/4 of one gallon a day.

I'll start posting in the other threads now, just wanted to let everyone know I didn't give up.
