Good for you!!!! I am so glad you found ADBB. Plan your meals, go shopping for Induction allowed foods, stay away from evil 'frankenfood' (bars, shakes, etc..), and drink more water than you ever thought possible and you will do great!!!!
There is a Century Club here, for people who have 100 pounds or more to lose, you may enjoy that but feel free to post anywhere.
If there is anything I can do to help, just let me know!! I am still pretty new, and there are lots of people here who know their stuff.

welcome to ADBB from a former 300+ pounder.
advise? set up your area of th fridge with your food ready to grab abd eat, have a cabinet shelf for you so you aren't tempted. ask hubby to consume hsi treats you love somewhere else until youhave full control of your eatting and then get the family menu to mathc yours with more higher GI veggies for the kids and DH.
plan your exercise time in your day planner right now so it doesn't get overlooked and that I'm to fat to exercise excuse doesn't cut the mustard here. take the kids out for a walk, do a shoppins store walkathon doing all the asilse before you put anything in the buggy. Any thing that is more then you did today caunts as exercise and as you get in better shape and boiy will you be surprized how fast that happens you add more time to your workouts and make them more challenging

join the Century club for some added help from folk who have been there done that and are trying just s much as you are.

Happy low carbing.

You've gotten great advice, so I'll just say WELCOME TO !!

Follow the plan as written, NO CHEATS, no processed foods (including low-carb foods like shakes and bars), take your vits, drink your water, exercise, and prepare to be impressed!

YOU CAN DO IT!

Welcome Bev. I had a similar amount to lose when I started and was, as you say, absolutely sick of myself being so fat and awful. I could not do anything withput effort and pain.

This way of eating is so easy and very natural. My tips:
1. Keep a journal. I use a handwritten one but many folks like the electronic type (eg www.fitday.com).
2. Avoid processed stuff, even if it says 'low carb'. This is especially important in the first weeks when you are changing the body's 'expectations' of what is going into it.
3. Us fresh ingredients for flavour wherever you can. I vegetable shop 2-3 times a week and prepare all my meaqls from scratch. I realise as a mother you may not have time for this, but keep it as simple as you can.
4. Do some exercise, even if it is just gentle walks and stretches to start. May be you could go for a walk with your family once a day.
5. ONly weigh once a week. You will be disappointed if your weight fluctuates day to day, and it is easy to get dispirited and that's when we get tempted by teh bad old stuff.

GOOD LUCK

Hi Bev
Welcome!! Glad to see you've made a decision to get healthy and lose weight. You've definitely come to the right place to get inspiration and motivation. Everyone here is more than willing to encourage you and cheer you on. There are lots of forums for any issues you might be having or information on doing this WOE. You'll find a lot of inspiring stories, before/after photos and challenges. We are all walking this path together and sharing our experiences. It is so much easier to lose the weight when you have a group of friends who care.

Best wishes. You can do this. Make sure you follow Dr. Atkins' plan. Read the DANDR, drink lots of water, measure yourself, take supplements and exercise. Soon you'll be feeling great and losing weight.

Good to hear it! I don't know if you mentioned whether or not you got the book and read it. If you haven't, you should. That was the thing that really turned me around on low carbing. I tried to wing it the first time around and ended up short changing myself with severely limited food choices, trying to use "low carb" products. It was not fun! But then I came across ADBB and got the book. Thank goodness!

I hope you start a journal in the journal forum! I am so excited to hear about your progress. If you aren't up for it just yet, please pop in to mine and let me know how you are doing! Here's a link: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=26376

You ABSOLUTELY can do this!!
