Cool Getting back on track!

Hi there everyone!

I'm an Atkins girl who's fallen out of the boat and I'm about to climb back in. I'm 22, 5' 7", and newly 223 lb. I bought Atkins New Diet Revolution about 2 yrs ago for my mother and she lost 30 lb! I quickly sped read it that summer and started Atkins that night. At the time I weighed 202 lb and a month later I was down to 183 (I cheated ALOT towards the end)! Very exciting! I have been overweight ALL of my life, and was darned tired of it! I really wanted to know what it was like NOT to be unattractive and to get some positive attention. I've only had 1 boyfriend in my life and that was when I was 14 and not so very body-conscious. I now won't let anyone get a glimpse of me in anything other than frumpy baggy clothes, which makes me stand out like a sore thumb when I go out with my tiny friends in their even tinier outfits- I love em, but it does make me uncomfortable and I always feel really unattractive.

Anyways, after that summer success I gained back all the weight, because cooking low carb food is pretty hard when you're a busy medical student and always strapped for time. I try to do Atkins again every 6 months or so and lose some weight (about 14 lb), but I throw myself right off the plank 10 days in when I pass a crepe store.

I'm planning on losing the weight and getting down to my goal of 140 lb. I'm starting on Wednesday, next week, after returning from a vacation and the stories I read on this website have truly inspired me that it is possible.

I'll be seeing you

Good to see you starting over!

It is so hard when we see our diet as a short-term fix! If you're in med school you obviously know the reality of what happens when we abuse our bodies long-term and only treat it nicely for little spurts here and there!

Commit to it for the long haul! You can do it!!!

Welcome back. What I love about this program is that there are so many recipes and food selections that we can choose from. I always thought that eating healthy required too much effort, but as this has become a habit...I realize that it gets easier and easier to fix foods that are on the program and I love the energy and the feeling of being in control and having higher self esteem.

You can do it. The ADBB is full of people - just like you - that have busy schedules and are making it happen. Make a plan, stick to it, do the program the way DR ATKINS suggested and you'll soon change your new life style will become more comfortable to you.

Hello!

My advice ... promise yourself that as soon as you finish your first two weeks of induction you are going to go buy yourself an attractive outfit that fits. Something you can wear often or mix and match so that you get your money's worth out of it while you are losing weight.

Remember, your weight is not what makes you lovable. In reality it is the type of person you are and the confidence in who you are that makes you lovable.
