Hi. I have been browsing the boards for about a month now
and i finally decided to try it. I need to lose about 75 pounds
and was looking for the right way to do it. You all seem so friendly on these boards and i feel like with your encouragement that I can do it. I am getting married in less than a year so i do have some motivation. I want to thank everyone ahead of time for all that I have learned from you and all that
i will continue to learn.

Welcome. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I'm sure you'll find all the encouragement and motivation you need here in the ADBB. Everyone is working together to live a new healthier lifestyle. I've been doing Atkins for over two years now and I've never felt so good. Here's what I did to make it happen....

I read Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, edition 2002
I followed his advice to the T. Drank lots of water, exercised, took supplements and ate only what was on the acceptable list.
I substitued foods I loved that were not on the list with ones that were similiar...(example: mashed potatoes sub with mashed cauliflower, pizza with Atkins friendly pizza)...so I never felt deprived or hungry.
I kept a journal to help me. I could relive my accomplishments and see what times were the hardest for me so I could plan how to cope.
I stayed active in the ADBB and participated in challenges and shared my experiences with the members. It helps to be friends with others who are also making it happen.

Hi ghelen! Welcome to the board!

There's a lot of great information here on the board. I hope you have a trusty copy of Dr. Atkins 2002 edition of his book handy; it's a necessity to making sure you're on the right track with this way of eating (woe) as you incorporate exercise, drinking water, and enjoying awesome choices in foods.

Welcome to the forum, you'll find here more support than you imagine!, we're all on the same thing, we know how it feels, a bunch of people succeded... there's no better way to stay motivated than this forum
